Nunn has too much range and speed for a 30 year old layoff version of Leonard to overcome. Of course, Nunn could get timid in there like he did with Barkley and Starling but he'd probably be up for this fight, Nunn wins a decision.
Nunn has too much range and speed at 160 for the smaller Leonard, who ends up on the wrong end of a UD.
Nunn obviously has the physical advantages here but at times he often gave up height/range and fought small, a little like Paul Williams. Because Nunn doesn't use his range that well and drops his hands, it makes it easier for Leonard to get off and dictate the range the fight will be fought at. In the early rounds I expect Nunn to fight at range more when his energy levels are high but as it progresses to the mid rounds for Leonard to take over and pull out a close UD Leonard UD
If we matched up a PRIME Leonard of 1979-82,who moved up to middleweight, then Ray would have beaten Nunn by quite a substantial decision. However,by 1987-88 Nunn would outpoint Ray.
1989 Nunn wins by knockout over same year Leonard with that big right uppercut. I'd be willing to bet '87 Nunn as challenger takes out same year leonard. In fact, any year leonard would lose to Mike
He was past it and looking for money. He's not the first and wouldn't be the last. Leonard in the early 80's against a prime McCallum is not an easy pick either way - Believe it!
