I was virtually unbeatable as a boxer...I beat the best boxers, but I had trouble a poor chin...I could do all in a ring but take a punch...I was ?

Could be none other than Larkin who outboxed some of the best but had his chin found out 10 times with the majority of his decisions losses before age 20.

I'd say Hearns could take a decent shot compared to Larkin.

The amount of times Larkin was literally carried back to his corner.

Know Larkin was Italian. Any idea, burt, how he chose such an unusual Irish handle?

He may have been too unorthodox to be considered a pure boxer though.

Okay, thanks for the reply though. All i know is what i've read obviously. Not sure really what you mean though if you don't mind elaborating GreatA? I always had the impression he was the type of boxer who would like to use footwork and jab outside rather than fight more as a complete technician, that's why i mentioned him here. That said, i haven't read extensively on his fighting style so i might be completely off the mark with that.

Was Hearns' chin really that bad?

I think his issues are a bit overstated, in the same way that Frank Bruno often gets accused of having a shaky chin..... Hearns had dodgy balance and was crap at clinching.

Plus.... Leonard wasn't exactly feather fisted, nor was Hagler.....
