HH, i would never doubt your word as its pretty much gospel but didnt sugar ray himself say in the 'Pound for Pound' documentary that he had something like 150/160 (i cant be certain of the exact number but it was definitley 100-plus) fights before he lost the first time. I wouldnt be a great man for checking records as i either know it (or think i know it) or i dont, and when the great man claimed that then ive no reason to doubt him. Maybe age was creeping up on him then and he was a little forgetful. Again H, this isnt questioning you, im only stating what SRR said himself mate:good

This was researched many years ago by some people at IBRO, mainly the former IBRO director John Grasso. Also, Billy Graham is said to have beaten him very early in his Amateur career, most likely when both were young kids, and at that time might not have gone on his official amateur record.

Here's what we came up with:

Former IBRO director John Grasso did extensive research on Ray Robinson's amateur record and found a loss in the 1938 118-lb Junior Division.

Here is the finding's of Robinson's Golden Gloves career, as well as his last two amateur fights before he turned pro.
