I see where the comparison can be drawn, but Cotto has some solid names on his resume and he's won titles in three weight divisions. Not to mention he is just overall a much more polished fighter than Hatton.

    Cotto > Hatton.

Regardless of what happens from now on in his career.

I'm not holding anything against cotto... good for him.... but a lot of people are sorely mistaken if they want to throw him in with the best at 154... cotto would lose and lose badly and then everyone would start whining about how he should have retired

I don't give a **** about cotto.... I Hope he succeeds... I just don't see what he is going to do at 154.... they obviously kept him away from large fighters while he was at 147

    pw - 6 2 with crazy reach
    marg - 5 11
    cintron - 5 11
    sm - 5 10
    angulo - 5 10

not to mention these cats are ****ing HUNGRY! cotto already tasted the top I don't care what he did against yuri foreman but he don't look as hungry as he once was

it's not about cotto being like hatton skill wise... I'm talking about career wise

Cotto has achieved much more in his career than Hatton ever did or ever could.

They do not even deserve to be compared.

hatton = fighter with a huge following, great fighter but can't fight top competition in the form he is currently in, but to far down the line in his career to fight mid level competition who are fighting their ways through the ranks...

now tell me cotto ain't close to that.... and I'll show you the direction of a liar

    Thats where u went wrong.

Hatton was never a great fighter.
He was so overhyped. Even his first fight here he showed he wasnt in the top level. ever.

Cotto still showed he has some skill which will get him a few more wins. Hatton can not beat any of the top guys.

Are you Brittish by any chance??

I wouldn't call him the pr fatton. Fatton is really done & admits that he doesn't have the passion anymore. Cotto still has a few fights in him, especially if steward can improve his defense. Also cotto has to learn that you can't trade w/ everyone. I think he might beat margo on pts if he goes to the body early & often. I think he could beat angulo on pts if he jabs & goes to the body, & i think he can outbox & pressure cintron. After that idk where he goes. I think he'd lose to pwill, martinez, or floyd.

You could put an asterik next the the last 3 fights and suddenly his resume isn't so great, it then becomes similar to Kendall Holt. Judah was won off blatant cheating that if a compentant ref was in the ring the fight would have been a DQ. Mosley could have gone either way, I had it being for Mosley but it was a close fight and he ran away from a rematch. Clottey was an out right robbery, Cotto at best only won 5 rounds clearly, at best, I had Clottey winning 8 rounds to 4, either way it was a robbery the margin they had Cotto winning.

I don't understand why so many people try to make this comparison. Cotto is hands down superior to Hatton in almost every category you could match the two. Aside from beating Tszyu Hatton has done virtually nothing. Hatton racked up 40 wins before fighting a meaninful fight in states and currently sits with 45 wins. Once he faced real competition he lost and struggled with lower level fighters like Collazo and Lazcano. Cotto is a three division champ and has been in with much tougher opposition, and has beaten much better opposition. Not to mention Hatton would be thrashed in any head to head matchup at any weight. These Hatton vs. Cotto comparisons and fantasy match-ups are ridiculous…enough already.

Career wise Cotto is slightly over Hatton. Not by much but based on his wins and level of comp. Both had some very good wins but I think overall the level of comp favors Cotto.
