Steward changed Wlad when everyone said it would be too late for him, I don't see how he couldn't change Paul. He would definitely get Paul using his height, and being balanced. Peterson has taken Paul as far as he can, Paul really needs to look for better training.

Manny could prob help almost any fighter become a better fighter.

With that said,PW is no southpaw Tommy Hearns thats for sure.

He doesn't have the temperament to fight like his current coach wants him to fight. According to what Pdub ( aka Petey Wheatstraw) told NBA after the last fight, George had him slow down the first couple rounds. I think that was to try and get him to do the things HE wanted him to do some. Think and be selective instead of going in face first. Use his height, jab, etc....

The ONE area that would improve is probably sparring partners. That MIGHT get Petey to change his ways some. George is not giving him all that bad of advice in the corner but he isn't getting through to him it seems.

You guys should see the frustration of Peterson's face sometimes.

    Pete:
"Ok Paul, fight tall, keep on the outside of his left foot and jab you way in until you find an opening for that overhand left"

    PW
    "OK Mr. Pete"

    << Bell Rings>>

    Pete:
"Flick the the Jab! Move left!"

<<PW catches a jab and just rushes in throwing lefts and rights>>

    Pete:
    ":wall"

I have mixed feelings about Paul changing trainers. On a personal level I think Peterson is creepy. However, PDub's style has only failed him once, and he avenged that loss in rather dramatic fashion.

Turn him into a master counter puncher via hooking him up with Nacho Beristain

So I hear, but over the course of a fight? I'll believe it when I see it. It reminds me a little bit of Arturo Gatti. Gatti could box, but as soon as you caught him and rang his bell a little bit, he went bat**** and the boxer was gone.

It would definitely kill any momentum Williams has. Right now he is an exciting action paxcked fighter. Steward will turn him into a jab machine hugger that will bore the crap out of everyone.

:lol: Even if a guy's got the tools, there's only so much you can do about the personality. Paul's faults are fan-friendly at least.

The point being, I don't think Stewart is a 'magic bullet' fix. His current coach is always calm in the corner. Perfect counter balance. Peterson's advice in the corner is not bad. You just have to know how to translate. :D

"Man up on dem punches" Stand tall, throw a hard jab instead of leaning forward at the waist and jumping in..... etc...

"Every time you do dat, he smacks you upside your head. You don't need that...." Pretty much the same as above. :D

Which is why he needs to be at 147 and not middle weight.
