He will have an argument. Top20 is more realistic though.

wow 4.) rocky marciano wtf, wlad could maybe be considered for top20 heavyweight of all time after some fights, but top 15 you must be mad.

What defines GREAT for ALL TIME GREAT status?

    1) Skillset (power/technique/defense/reach/chin/ring savy/speed)?
    2) Accomplishment / Resummee?
    3) Untangibles in & out of the ring?
    4) Domination of division?

While the current Wlad is pretty good at No. 1, and 4, he has a weak resummee compared to most former ATGs, and fails to excite in most matches. Further, since he rarely stirs up a hate battle, he is considered weak in regards to #3 (current Haye situation is an exception).

All in all, he should be ranked in the TOP20, but not at rank 13 or 14. Head to head, he would be a stiff opponent of every ATG who walked this planet. Neither a prime Ali, Foreman, nor Lennox would have a field day with the current Wlad, even if they won.

I'm changing my avatar now that I have this tribute act here.

Also yes, current Wlad would give nearly every HW ever fits.

I would have a lot more comfort placing Wlad in my top 20 if he had avenged his defeats to Ross Purity and Corrie Sanders. I believe that skill wise he is deserving; the current Wladimir Klitschko is nigh-on unbeatable for any fighter past or present - but does he have the resume ?

His resume is hardly stellar at the moment, but i'm further baffled why you think him beating Povetkin seems to solidify it even more?

I don't think that ranking is too unfair but I don't understand the case where Povetkin shows up. Povetkin is a good fighter but he is basically unproven since he won a not so convincing fight against Chambers and Eddie was trashed by Wladimir. But I understand the point that Wladimir beats another top heavy and there won't be many left to say that he's the top heavy of the decade... And the guy left to beat is definitely Haye, not Povetkin.

No logic there. Either Wlad is in your top 15 already or he won't be, regardless if he beats Povetkin or not. Povetkin is decent but nothing special, so a win over him would be decent, nothing more..

The logic is Povetkin is yet another top 5 heavyweight that Wlad is going to have beaten, he is undefeated and has beaten other top 10 fighters. Further, it adds another title defense to wlads reign.

I value heavyweight reign significantly, thats why I have Joe Louis at the GOAT over Ali. A lot of the guys listed had very brief heavyweight reigns and that kind of dominance, reign should contribute to the formula heavily when ranking ATG heavyweights IMO.

Povetkin would hardly be enough to thrust Wlad into the top 15.
