Why is this so? Does losing to a jmw entitle you to this? Could someone fill me in? http://boxrec.com/ratings.php?sex=m&division=Super
Its the boxrec points system, sometimes they get it right other times they get it very wrong. this is one of the very wrong times. Its based primarily on the fact that he beat Jermain Taylor twice and he beat Edison Miranda.
Their computer based system is often incomprehensible. Since the Martinez fight Box Rec has had KP at #3 at 160, #5 at 168, #3 at 160, and now it's #4 at 168. Realistically you can't even rank Pav right now. He's not a middleweight. He hasn't fought at SMW since February of 2008, and the best fighter he ever beat at LHW was Ross Thompson 6 years ago. So . . . . . ?
It's just the way boxrec ratings work. The number of points Pavlik has at 160, he will only have a few pints less than this at 168 even though he hasnt fought there for a long time and beaten no one of note except for Taylor (at a catchweight when they were both still middleweights).
Yes indeed, Pavlik was rated by boxrec as a SMW before and was put back to MW and now back to SMW... But most of the time they rate a boxer in a new weight after a fight at that class so I think it's a mistake again and he will be put back at MW again
Kessler over Ward? atsch The need to make the 'points' clickable so you can see how the fsck they came up with them.
It's a stupid system, Kessler was ranked very low, Ward takes kesslers ranking which is below Froch, Kessler beats Froch, gains more points than he lost against Ward. atsch
They need Nate Silver doing their statistical analysis. Hell, they need just about anybody but who wrote the system doing it. :deal They haven't been right since they had Kelly Pavlik #1 p4p.
