Wasn't impressed with McCloskey, and Jim Watt didn't say he wasn't world class he said it wasn't a world class performance, and he's right.
Mcclosley fought an usual style but what a knockout!! timber Box and move the next time dude, save the wear and tear!
Very entertaining fight but was let down by McCloskey. On a more positive note, I never thought I would ever see McCloskey KO someone with one shot like that. The minute it connected everyone knew the fight was over. Can't say I am happy though. Lauri should be a walk in the park for anyone on world level.
Granted it wasn't McCloskey's best performance but in fairness to him and to pick up on your point about Khan, a win over Lauri is more credible than Khan's win over Oisin ***an and what should have been a no contest over old man Barerra. If that's all you need to do to be considered world class then McCloskey is just as deserving as Khan.
Even if Paul wasnt punch perfect tonight this may well get him a World title fight. Fighters may look at that and say I need a easy fight so McCloskey looks like that in the top 10 so he is the 1 for them. Whoever that is it is different when you are fighting for a World title McCloskey has nothing to loose and everything to gain. It is the prefect time for him to move up to a title fight. IF he won that fight within the first 3 rounds most would avoid him if he went looking for a world title fight.
Whats watts babbling about again ?? italian had hsi hands up and was ready for a punch he wasnt looking away or anything
Frampton cant get a minutes time on SKY so he hogs front row instead - last week front and centre with McG and this week walks across the front row stopping to shake peoples hands is a desparate attempt to garner some air time.
Well lads a decent night of boxing. Can't say I was overly impressed by McCloskey, but a wins a win. Haughian looked too small in comparison from Mcintrye, and he couldn't cope with the southpaw stance. The crowd could have been better, but considering McCloskey has never topped a card in Belfast before let alone a Kings Hall card, the turnout wasn't that bad, and a finish like the KO that occured will attract him more support here.
