Demers vs. Vera and Lemieux vs. Ayala RBR - it's an early FNF! 8:30PM EST start time!

It was nothing fancy, and he isn't lightning quick, but it was the right selection of shots and of the last half-dozen or so he threw they pretty much all crashed on-target. It got the job done.

 

Holdover bout: 8-0 (2) Tony Luis vs. 19-7-3 (11) Adrian Valdez, lightweights.

Marlon Wright pulling double duty, and may have not even left the ring in between assignments.

Round 1

Luis flashing out fast hands but tense and wasting motion. Jabs and right hands simply being walked away from by Valdez, and hooks coming nowhere close, being thrown from too far and without his body turning in on them. Valdez for his part not throwing too much in return, except an occasional slap to the body.

 

Totally, I'm not trying to undermine the way he went about finishing the guy. Those right crosses were landing in devastating fashion. It's just that you would think he would see them coming after his third fake jab/right cross in a row. But as I said, when you are ****ed up from a big punch, thats not something you usually take notice of. He did the same with Lee and it worked great too. Fair ****s to the lad.

 

Round 2

Luis back to his busybody ways, and only landing a bit when he walks Valdez into the ropes. Valdez is fighting negative, retreating and clinching. Valdez chases Luis with a few mean right hands but doesn't get anything in clean. Valdez back to playing keepaway. Luis shoeshines his way after Valdez, just following and not cutting the ring off. He is able to get Valdez backed into the ropes and again lands a bit.

Luis based again mainly on the non-activity of Valdez

 

Round 3

Valdez eats a short hook while trying to wrap his arms around Luis. Valdez darting in and out with pesky jabs to the body. Luis thinks he's got something good going on with the hook and leads with it...even jumping toward Valdez with it, RJJ style. Valdez running in erratic zig-zag patterns and crouching to make a small and elusive target and pecking with his body jab. Luis traps him and tries to work inside but Valdez grabs hold of one of his arms. Luis lets him get away with it until they break. Again they wind up in the same position and this time Luis begins to band Valdez with a modified left uppercut to the body and chin to free his right. Valdez eats a couple of jabs before going back to his old tricks, ducking and running.

Luis up.

Round 4

Valdez times a left hand on the button that sees Luis come alive and trying to hurt Valdez in kind. Valdez able to escape to a corner and spring a clinch on him. Valdez keeping his lead right hand low, and looking to either slip punches with his chin tucked or tie Luis up, and jab to the body when opportunity presents itself. Luis gets him backed again to the ropes, and again is able to land quite a bit flush. Luis takes a low blow that stunts his assault.

Valdez has a very ugly style, and Luis is very green offensively.

 

Damn. Nice left hook for the knockout...

 

Round 5

Valdez is fighting like he's here to go the six round distance. Luis is trying to force the issue but lacks the pop. Of course, as I write that, Valdez is dropped by a short check hook while punching with his head turned and not looking at what he's doing, and winds up sprawled under the bottom rope. He is on his butt at nine and Wright allows him to get up - wtf????? Again with this????? And it isn't even the local fighter...:huh Wright watches Valdez exchange a glance with his corner, and waves it off.

 

Brutal finisher. Might we see a similar conclusion in the main event?

 

Are you referring to Vera-Demers or Luis-Valdez?

The latter had me drowsy right up to the ten-count...we did not just catch a glimpse of the future at 135. :yep Hopefully not, anyway...

I was indeed referring to the latter but you can take your pick. Luis' hook was thunderous and perhaps a prelude to a similar outcome in the coming fight, you think?

 

It could be. :think I just hope it's more entertaining overall.

 

ayala needs to keep his hands up and catch lemiuex coming in
