If I'm not mistaken, Wlad tried to get a rematch with Sanders and with Brewster shortly following the losses. Sanders refused, and Brewster blew him off until he needed the payday and Wlad had the title.

Look at how many very early knockouts Vitali has over the years. Even Kirk Johnson was KOed in a round and a half, after having never been taken out before. 1.5 rounds and he was knocked out.

When VK puts his entire body into his power, he is a monster puncher. Easily on par with is brother.

The best is to rank fighters only after they are retired for 3-4 years or so. Then you have time to reflect on their career and also time to analyze what their previous opponents were able to achieve.

 

I know this is off topic but something that was weird about Sonny is that he would be able to walk down Wladimir. He would be able to take his punches and then get to his suspect chin. I think this might be similar to Liston-Williams, but Williams was letting his hands go and I imagine Wlad would take it slower.
