Can you imagine if Ray Lewis decided to go into boxing instead of football at the age he did? ****....look the hell out!

Anybody seen what old ass Herschel Walker looked like recently? And to think, he put all that time and energy into football. The way he fights at 47, he would have been the baddest man on the planet at 27.

The US has a population of over 300 million people and the NFL and NBA has only a few hundred players. Surely, your pool of talented atheletes isnt so tiny. As for big players in Euro sports, ever hear of hockey or rugby? Again, blaming the dearth of talented US HW boxers on the NFL and NBA (the guys in this particular league are some of the softest cream puffs I've ever seen) is a total cop out. For starters, both the NFL and NBA existed well over 50 years. So how come the talent pool was big enough then? Let me make it easier for you why you're not seeing any dominant US heavies these days - The fall of the Iron Curtain. Ever since this historically factual event, the Eastern Euros have taken over the HW division. Coincidence? I think not.

You know jack **** about American sports and American athletes. Things have changed drastically in the last 50 years. The only correct thing you said in this post is that the U.S. has a population of over 300 million.

Keep rolling out the excuses. :| Funny how everything changed the minute that Eastern Euros could compete on an even playing field (i.e., could actually compete abroad). But go ahead and keep making up silly rationalizations to heal your hurt egos.

Whether it's an "excuse" or not, the above posts which tell you that US's best athletes that aren't playing video games are invovled in basketball, american football, and to a lesser extent baseball, than just bout any other sport except boxing since their 10 years old are basically on point. The scholarships are there and so is the pro money and the exposure. Plus they play these sports for social reasons (recognition, their friends play there etc). All the top athletes are playing those sports as long as they can (very few go pro, a few more play in college, and then the rest flame out in high school etc). Fewer and fewer are getting involved with boxing at a very young age because of the above reasons, health reasons (boxing is at least perceived if not is more dangerous then most sports), and the fact that boxing hasn't been all that captivating in the US since tyson, hearns, hagler, etc.

To disprove your point about Easten Euros dominating b/c they're better athletes or some other reason, look at basketball. Eastern Euros love that sport and it's arguably a "level" playing field as you say (and the average height in a few of countries is higher than the US), and the best players are still from the US

And recently just got knocked out by Dwight Howard. You're right though, he's got great coordination, agility, speed and strength for a guy his size.

You didn't disprove anything. My argument was never about who the better athletes or basketball players are. My focus was only on HW boxers and to point out that generally good athletes will not automatically make good boxers. We have too many examples of supremely athletic people, turning into so-so boxers (eg., Grant, McCline, Golota, Briggs etc etc.). Too many US fans suggest that the NBA and the NFL have robbed their talent pool of potential HW boxers, while totally ignoring or being ignorant of the fact the Europe has many other lucrative sports as well. The thrust of my argument is that, after being blocked from professional competition for over 50 years, Eastern Euro HWs are finally competing on an even playing field.

Boxing was mainstream in the U.S. 50 years ago. The NFL and NBA were brand new and didn't mean **** to anybody. Furthermore, no exaggeration, the pay has got to be close to 50 times what it was then. Euro boxing fans are under the impression that boxing is big in America, and that we hype our fighters. The American public knows about as much about boxing as lzolnier knows about the NFL or NBA.....jack ****. The average American right now can name about 1-2 fighters currently fighting. A good portion of this country can't name a single current fighter, they could list off 10-20 athletes in each of the three major sports here EASILY.

Well, genius, the current crop of American heavyweights are awful but I guess in your mind the Eastern European heavyweights are so good that they just make the US heavyweights look bad. I guess when your so desperate to feel like a winner you have to rationalize this.

    Go ahead, we'll let you:

He didn't have to. I think the guy was trying to be polite. There was nothing to DISprove, as you never proved anything in the first place, except for how ignorant you are to American sports. Not that there's anything wrong with that, unless you're going to join conversations about it. I'm not going to claim I know the first thing about soccer or rugby, making it that much more difficult to see where the hell you're coming from or what it is that makes you the authority on our sports.
