You have sympathy for Valero? The man who murdered his wife, killed himself and left his children as orphans, scarred for the rest of their lives? He deserves respect??
I dug up the thread, I was going to post this: Im still in a funk regarding Valeros death. I wouldnt be shocked if some outside foul play was involved with the murder-suicide, but my gut tells me that Valero had spun hopelessly out of control from the time of his second title victory (vs. Antonio Pitalua). It all came crashing down with the violent quickness of one of his right hooks. I was recently talking to a South American source of mine, who was close to Valero for many years until they had a falling out (which happened with most of the fighters friends and advisers). He told me that Valero suffered from ezquizofrenia. Id never heard of it, but he told me it was the Spanish word for schizophrenia -- a severe psychotic disorder characterized by a loss of contact with reality and disintegration of the personality. He told me Valero was diagnosed with it when he returned to Venezuela following his stay in Japan. He told me Valero was on medication to treat the illness for a time but he took himself off of it and it wasnt long before he was self-medicating with every illegal drug known to man. My friend said Valero had become increasingly paranoid and hostile around his own family. He thought his younger brother was having an affair with his wife. No kidding, Valero was off on some Jake LaMotta s__t. Rumor has it Valero and his younger brother, Luis, got into a fight over this allegation before the Antonio DeMarco fight and I was told that Luis knocked Edwin out. By the way, Luis, who is 19 and has had some amateur fights, is planning to turn pro. Hes a 130 pounder and Ive been told hes got Edwins power with the moves of Jorge Linares. His nickname is El Poder, The Power. Lets hope he has the power of self-control or the willingness to get help if he ever needs it. That was Valeros downfall. But nip102 beat me to it... Part of dougies friday mailbag
it was as if jake lamotta bugged the **** out too much ...drugs and pills now..back in those days would have taken out many champs. when you catch the big superstar that is suppose to be in a program that is all over the papers etc etc.... you bring his crazy ass back when he is out a week after the sentence..driving high and causing a possible accident dusturbance.. not even a year in... the cops probably wanted autographs and then they escorted him home.. he was sick. ... a boxer with anger problems and a drug problem as well... the formula always ends with something bad.... just usually not this terrible. peace to him ..his wife...and thier kids.
I love that this forum is so wide open but I wish this thread would be locked. RIP Mr. and Mrs. Valero.
So, you think the "you have to walk in another man's shoes to know what it's like" adage applies in this case? Let me simply ask you this...... Is it ever(I mean ever) ok to beat on your wife and mother of your children and eventually murder her? If your answer is no.... then you can say it was a heinous thing and denounce it in any form that is appropriate. If your answer is anything but no.....
Listen **** for brains, I dug this thread up to post new info concerning valeros mental health prior to his demise. I never said it was right to do what he did. I dont want to discuss how hes a horrible person because he is dead.
If you dont have anything to say about dougies friday mail bag concerning valero then dont say anything at all. :bbb
he gets plenty of hate for doing his wife in as well as himself.. the is no dispute trying to vindicate him as a hero or anything... it's a ****ing tragedy.... he can be hated or erased from the minds of fans...or people can look at the man as he was...a hopefull that would have given us great and exciting fights. i'm sure this was never a grand scheme or design calcultated to do so... nor is it a "whoops...sorry" if a ******ed kid tries to reach for a butterfly and falls off a cliff and dies.... will you say.. "what a ******"? it's straight up a tragedy... it just so happens it's something that happened with boxing and not any other sport.
I'm **** for brains....... Says the guy who backs a busted cheater and has a fixation on a murderer. it is a tragic story, and if you notice, I'm not name calling. Not Valero, not you. It simply is what it is. But don't try and spin it like Valero didn't do what he did and that people shouldn't be outraged. You want to have sympathy, have it for the kids and his wife's family. They're the ones who have to live with it.
Not at all. That person didn't do harm to anyone other than himself. Nor would there be any malice involved. That would have been a sad, tragic accident.
You don't know the definition of a troll, do you. I've made very few comments about it at all since it happened. I don't go around looking for, or starting Valero threads with intent to ridicule him. As a matter of fact, I thought he was going to be a serious, serious contender and was going to be one of the next big things in boxing after Pacquiao and Mayweather retire.
