That Punch by McCloskey...

It was a well placed punch, but was made far more effective by Lauri's lapse in concentration.

 

Agreed ! ...strange performance hes alot better than that ! ... hopefully not a change in style to develop more power in this punch ... needs to accomodate his quick counterpunch style with the power . Still learning and still unbeaten so eres hoping :good

 

McCloskey would get eaten alive by Khan. He was struggling with Lauri last night. He's another decent boxer, with a good following, who has managed to get to 30 and is now shouting about world titles. I can understand him wanting the paydays, but he's not a world class boxer.

If this mismatch happens, Khan KO 5.

 

Khan would blast him out in around 3 rounds and im trying to be respectful.

 

I wouldnt even read to much into the KO, Lauri was nodding at the ref at the moment of impact and didnt even see the right hand to boot.

He wasn't even looking at the ref, he was looking directly forward towards McCloskey and he had his guard up. Watch it again.

 

I'm surprised Paul was ahead on the scorecards, what with Jim Watt reminding us every round about what "these European judges" might be seeing.

Lauri wasn't fully prepared for the punch, but that's his own fault. The fact is, the KO covered over a very patchy performance from McCloskey who I think has found his level. If he was that good he wouldn't be 30 having still not fought a world class opponent.

also it seemed to me as though lauri was putting out his left glove to touch gloves with mccloskey after an accidental clash of heads when mccloskey went over the glove with the right hook
