Cesar Bazan is in the same bracket as Kotelnik and Malignaggi but in true Khan style McCloskey never faced him til he was over the hill! :good

    p.s. Khan never beat MAB.

Kotelnik and Malignaggi are over the hill now? I agree with you about the MAB fight btw. That cut was disgusting and the fight should have been declared a NC. Doesn't change the fact Khan faced him though.

McCloskey may not have landed an undeserved world title shot, but like many British & Irish fighters of late he certainly didn't deserve his European title shot.

what "presenting of facts" do you want me to do? Of course I can explain how and why McCloskey deserved his EBU title shot (a title like the British title which Khan dodged!) but I will wait for ollyc to explain his comments first before I rip his argument to shreds! :deal

I dont think Khan would blast him out, he hasn't that much power and isn't that aggressive. McCloskey would be looking to counterpunch him, so Khan would be cautious.

How is it ******ed to suggest the the EBU has been elevating fighters towards the top of their rankings without many of them deserving said Euro title shots?
In the case of somebody like Munroe, he may not have deserved his shot, but Martinez accepted the challenge as a voluntary defence. Guys like McDonnell, McCloskey, Harrison, Barker wer all nominated by the EBU as co-challengers for vacant titles can any of them honestly claim that their resumes are that of Euro level fighters?

In McCloskey's case I think he was Mbaye's mandatory was he not?
And I hardly think besting the likes of a past it Bazan, a faded Lynes, and an English level fighter like Wright warrants said mandatory status.

I'm not singling the guy out here; I think it's ridiculous to slate the guy for wanting to progress to the next level, and didn't even think he was that even that aggressive/outspoken in his demands post fight - but he like all most of the other current Euro champs didn't earn the right to fight for the belt imo.

Funny you bring up Munroe, he may have been a voluntary but he never beat anyone decent at domestic level. He never won the British title but because Martinez accepted him as a voluntary defense he somehow deserves a EBU shot over someone like McCloskey who was British champion? That's some ****ed up logic right there.

Wright and Lynes, who McCloskey was fighting at domestic level are both better than Dmitry Salita ffs.

Of course Munroe didn't deserve his chance. But he wasn't elevated up the rnakings by the EBU like most of the current champs; the EBU can not control who their champs accept as voluntary defences can they?

Wright and Lynes were both ranked in the Euro top ten when he fought and beat them, Harrison was a late replacement after a pull out and McCloskey was to MBaye for the vacant European title and he also pulled out.

So he had beaten two top 10 european fighters and was facing the number one for the vacant title!

So tell me how did he not deserve a shot at the EBU title and who deserved a shot infront of him!

McCloskey clearly deserved the shot more than Munroe though no matter how the title shots came about. You are trying to discredit McCloskey by saying he didn't deserve the EBU title shot as if he just came from nowhere to get it. Tell me this, which makes more sense to you, McCloskey getting a EBU title shot off the back of being British champ or Khan getting a world title shot by beating Oisin ***an?
