Dawson. If you want to say "well you have to consider at what stage the opponent was at in their careers" then you can say Fragomeni was past it when he lost to Erdei. A guy who never gets mentioned on Dawson's resume is Eric Harding, never a champion but solid contender (he arguably gave prime RJJ his most difficult fight, beat Tarver and Griffin, was up on the cards on Tarver in the rematch before Tarver connected with a vicious left). Even though Glen had 11 losses at the time, a LOT of them were contraversial and disputable. Even with the now 13 losses Glen is still a world class fighter capable of beating pretty much anyone at LHW on a given night. He is LHW's nightmare. Even at 40 I think Tarver is still fairly competitive at LHW. It's also not simply that Dawson beat them. He annihilated them (in the scoring sense, sans Johnson I). Johnson hadn't been beaten so thoroughly since the Hopkins fight. Some of the fights Dawson was the underdog.
Did I not say Erdei had some close runs? I may sound biased but it is to make people take the rose tinted glasses off a look at facts, then give an honest answer, on the first page what was said to bolster and what was said to discredit, please point out
So Gonzalez still got schooled by Woods, who was schooled by Tarver who was schooled by Dawson in his next fight. The fact thats his best win and he got 2 gifts against Garay speaks volumes. Erdei was protected and not put in with any top10 contenders after Garay twice beat him
Fair enough, but then you could say Johnson lost to Woods at the last time of asking or you could get very silly and say all the names Johnson lost to or could say Erdei KOd Santiago who KOd Muriqi who ran Tarver close. But to say Erdei wasnt put in with anyone after Garay is wrong as he fought Ulrich and later went up to a new weight division and in his first fight in that division beat a world champ
