Calz is never going to get respect he deserves. Really not a bad point you try to make, but it won't change the fact people will tend to trash Calz. He was a great fighter, and would have been a difficult fight for anyone in his prime.

I credit Joe for his Hopkins win, but the RJJ one was just plain selfish. And where's his fight with Toney? Oh wait that's right...:)

You must have not checked your facts very well. Toney was fighting at CW before Calzaghe even won his first SMW title, and Toney was at HW around the time Calzaghe was beating Mitchell.
You must have known this before posting im sure. So why would he fight Toney at CW or HW? Very silly :patsch

IMO? Age. Dawson still has time to get some things done. His resume might end up being far stronger than it is now.

You would be surprised how many people gave joe stick for not making this fight. it was a non starter.

First, I thought Bhop beat joe but it was close and could have gone either way.

Second, I do not think the people that Dawson is the best in his division right now make the same lofty claims that Joe C. fans make. According to some idiots he is the GOAT Between 160 to 200lbs and could beat them all H2H. I remembering seeing a thread where they saw he could Beat Ali!!!

Third, Glenn gets slightly underrated because of his loses because he lost a lot of close and controversial fights on the road and Bhop is slightly overrated.

Finally, I am so sick of heating about JC . . . why don't you guess keep this crap on the European forum because he was only a regional fighter.

It's a classic litmus test in Calzaghe hate threads.

If people mention Toney as an opponent he could have fought and didn't, they don't know what they're talking about.

You seem to forget that you dont have to post on anything I type.
I think Dawson is the best LHW at the moment.
Still its the old deal Dawson gets credit when the age gap is bigger and Calzaghe beat an old shopworn fighter even though he was the man of the division.
Still for a regional fighter hes done well winning WBO WBA IBF WBC RING SMW AND LHW TITLES, I wasnt aware the Ring was a regional title
I a he could beat ALI thread saying he beat this guy who beat this guy etc, If thats the thread you saw then id be surprised if you didnt think it was a joke, I did

The point is Toney would have worked him, not that Joe ducked him. Notice I NEVER said Joe ducked him? You want an award for assuming my intentions with my comment?

Assuming only makes an ass out of you, not me. And funny howi still haven't mentioned about hating Joe? I personally think he needs to be knocked down a peg but I don't deny the guy's skills. You Brits would give your right arm in an assumption match in hopes to be right. That's why you don't get paid to think.

    What you actually said was...

....which seems to be fairly clearly questioning why Calzaghe didn't fight Toney. If that's not what you meant, you need to learn English.

Toney was fighting at 2 divisions higher before Calzaghe won his first world title, so of course they wouldnt fight:patsch

It's funny how you assume that the comment was directed to you thinking Calzaghe ducked Toney. He just stated a fact. A lot of people like to do that, he didn't say YOU were doing that. Assuming only makes an ass out of you, not me...

Calzaghe gets ragged on too much. The man did a hell of a lot for being ignored much of his career by names who wanted to stacked the bank accounts rather than go for the toughest challenges (Jones, especially). Hopkins wanted a much larger piece of the pie to fight Joe until a few years ago. Same with Jones. Toney...well, he was just interested in hopping up as he couldn't hold his appetite back. Now, Dawson gets ragged on too much when the light heavyweight suckfest right isn't his fault either. HE did cause all the top LHWs to be guys who everyone and their mother (forgot your promise, Bernard?) were begging to retire. Johnson is a rough customer despite his age, just like Hopkins. Both Calzaghe and Dawson deserve a lot more credit then they are given.
