In addition to some of the responses already given about the **** charge, Berbick has always sounded like a rather unlikable individual from everything I've heard and read. A lot of people never forgave him for the beating that he gave Muhammad Ali, and throughout his life and career was constantly in confrontations.. The fact that he was a ******, a brawler and a man who was ultimately murdered in a very fishy sounding story, leaves one with the implication that he wasn't a very nice human being.
I don't think Ali ever did prison time. He did like a weekend in county for driving with a suspended license but no "big house" time.

He fought a lot in a pretty crappy era as it was (mid to late 70's). He was the kind of guy that if he were at the right time/place he could have taken a belt in any era, though lacked top-tier skills and talent. The heavyweight division, morso than any other, is just that way. It's a punch or two away from being 180 degrees turned.
The thing i remember most about the guy is how Tyson destroyed him. He was mouthin off to Tyson after the 1st round in that fight too, ddnt matter he was done in at the start of the fight.
