Miguel Cotto "I know I'm not well liked here in PR or in the world of boxing"

I don't like him, either. It makes me pretty uncomfortable to see which ESB posters agree with me on that...

I really want to like Cotto, but it's that he (apparently) feels the need to do things like that against lesser competition. He far outclasses the guys he's low-blowed, thrown to the canvas, and/or stepped on.

Maybe I'm just :| about it, but I'm always scared that he'll pull something like that on the world stage. I don't mean that he should be an ambassador for boxing or anything like that, of course; that's not his job unless, for some masochistic reason, he decides to be one.

Cotto fights the best and he is the best... I just can't quite pull myself onto the bandwagon, is all.

 

If PR doesn't want him, we'll take him.

We need all the american stars we can get.

Most people I know think he is one of the most exciting fighters right now and include him on their top 10 favorite fighters. He's been on my top 5 for a long time now.

 

Cotto represents everything the real fight fan loves about boxing. He is very respectful to other fighters and the sport of boxing, and faces all opposition. He has never refused to face any fighter worthy of calling himself a challenger.

He is the very opposite of someone like Floyd Mayweather.

no sense in cotto worrying about matching TITO in popularity in PR that will never happen again with any other fighter ever. Tito was one of a kind theres only one tito its like Kobe worrying about being loved like Jordan was.

I agree. Definitely one of the most well liked guys. I don't know why he'd think he's not well liked in the sport of boxing.

Boo ****ing hoo. Cry baby Cottoe needs to see a ****ing physciatrist. Watching Cottoe interviews is about as cringeworthy and exciting as watching paint dry. I have never found his fights to be exciting and they usually result in some sort of dirty WWE tactics which he loves to display (low blows (corley, tores, judah), illegal shots to the back of the head (Clotty), illegal shots to the back (Quitana), body slams (judah). Pathetic, cheap and utterly disgraceful.

 

I like Cotto a lot, and have trouble understanding why anybody would prefer a brash, obnoxious personality to a relaxed and humble one.

Can't speak for The Island, but in the world of boxing Cotto is a deeply beloved figure. FAIL, Miguel. :smooch

 

I don't like him as a boxer either.


He gets way too much credit for being such a warrior, but he does some of the dirtiest **** in the ring (Low blows and ****). And when he does it, all his fans clamor "This is boxing, blah blah blah" But if someone else does it, they are dirty, etc.


Plus, he always gets the benefit of the doubt when it comes to Margarito, yet everyone acts like he's the only guy who ever fught Margo with loaded gloves. No one else gets credit for getting in the ring with Margo like that.


And the first thing unflattering you say about the guy, and everyone gets all super emotional. Watch and see.
