Dawson gets credit for beating Johnson, because Johnson was fresher than Hopkins was and he was better than anyone Dawson could have fought. Dawson was also pretty inexperienced as well, where as Calzaghe was in his prime when he had chances to fight better opponents. Calzaghe could have come to the States to fight Hopkins and Jones years ago when they were in or closer to their primes and he simply refused to do it. He was quoted back in 1999 and 2003 I believe basically saying that he didn't want to fight Jones, because he feared losing. Hopkins wouldn't fight him in the U.K. and there was no reason for him to do so.

Calzaghe had chances that he refused to take, including multiple fights with Glen Johnson, the same guy with 11 losses. He refused fights with real opposition and Joe himself admitted that he didn't want tough fights according to another quote that I read from his own mouth. I also read a quote after the fight where Calzaghe said Hopkins wasn't as past it as he thought he would be. That tells you he was trying to pick on shot fighters. After reading that you can't honestly say Joe deserves too much credit can you?

Calazaghe doesn't get credit for Hopkins because it wasn't a convincing win, many myself included thought Hopkins won. It would be an excellent win if it was convincing but it wasn't. Calzaghe turned down a rematch with Hopkins and turned down a fight with number 1 top contender Chad Dawson and instead fought a shot Jones who'm he previously said in his biography he'd never fight because he was too far past it

Dawson gets credit for Johnson, because he rematched a close decision and couldn't really get a better opponent. It added to his resume and his wins over Adamek, Tarver x2, Johnson x2 and now hes facing a top titlist in Pascal. Effectively he's cleaning the division, what more do you want?

Dawson himself wished Calzaghe the best in retirement and didn't ***** about Calzaghe's decision, as a true gentleman

Yeah he dodged a fight with the "shot" Jeff Lacy. All you guys had him as a mini Mike Tyson. Yanks are full of sh*t.

At the End of the Day if Mayweather was Knocking these guys out into Orbit nobody would care what Mayweather says. Its his style. Everybody knows Mayweather is a ATG. Most People will tell you he is Boring and they hate that style.

This is about Boxing fans perspective. Dont be confused with jealous non-fans. Boxing Fans dont care about Personality. This aint no other sport were your crucified and strip from your income. Which Boxing fan gave a **** about who Mike Raped? Just come home and keep knocking them out Mike. What was the 1st thing you thought when Valero went on his Rampage? Damn we will never see Him fight Pac. If you dislike a fighter cause there an ASS and downplay his Accomplishments because of it, then your no fan of Boxing. Simple. Like the white lady that went to all ALI fights waiting on him to loose. She was not a fan of Boxing and never watched another fight in life.

Boxing Fans dont like Mayweather due to his style. People think he cant punch. But he keeps winning, Well, hes not punching heads into the Stratusphere and he rarely engages hes hated because hes boring and his style cant possibly get him were he is today, theres got to be somebody that can still this 0? After each fight his win is downplayed and the person he beat never was so good to begin with. He was Small, Old, or a Bum.

Mosley was called out Twice many eons, Cotto was supposedly be in a contract for Mayweather en-route to De la Hoya, Margarito was also in this contract which Arum never denied the fact that mayweather only wanted $2 million more. Margarito shouldnt even be Mentioned, he is nothing more then a Journey man and Lord only Knows how Cotto allow Margo to get pass him. Anyway.

Its the Styles. Check the Forum and look pass the hate, Calzagi Nick name is Calslappy poking fun at his style, I even do so myself as I dislike the mans style. I stated who he beat already and deserves respect even tho the **** cant turn his ****ing wrist.

Mayweather check the Forum yes they say hes ducking mostly which goes back to the contract and why cotto or margo(pointless 1 hit wonder) never happened (promoter issue) but they know Mayweather will win when negotiations went on these people were quite when Mayweather agreed to 50/50 these are not boxing fans they hate his mouth piece, the board was dead. Fight gets called off here they are again. Look past the non-boxing fans **** I know a philipino woman that seen more pac fights then me but that dont make her a fan of the sport. Look at the people that call him Mayrunner, Gayfeather(thinks he soft and theres someone that can dethrown him), or people that says hes great but he dosent take chances, Real Boxing fans say things like that. I want you to ko people, stop ****ing running, not I hope he finally gets his mouth shut. Lets leave the non fans out of this. The real boxing fans dislike Floyd because they dont like his style. The people that watch boxing at bars to be in the crowd and hate floyd because of his mouth are not they are irrelevant. Its the styles that bother real fans. To bad because you cant knock everybody out and when the real fight gets made the non boxing fans will see:thumbsup

Are you new to boxing by any chance? There were countless Super Middle titlists (not Lacy) and contenders he didn't fight from 1997-2006, his resume larely had no top10 SMW contenders

Are you aware Joe pulled out with a scheduled fight with Glen Johnson twice? (Or was it 3times?). He blamed it on a bad back, but it may have been his divorce.

Did you know Joe wanted to pull out of the Lacy fight and his dad made him fight anyway? Before he fought Lacy he was considered a joke, not top20 P4P and a career that was in tatters

And no I'm not a 'Yank'

He could have pulled out of a fight with Glen Johnson 10 times. Had they ever met Calzaghe would be the winner. Simple.

Anyone with half a brain knew that Jeff was nowhere near as good as a prime Mike Tyson. The only thing they had in common was punching power. The styles were completely different and Tyson had a lot more skills. Tyson had head movement, great speed, and punching power. Jeff just walked through punches until his ability to take punishment deteriorated. He simply out toughed and overpowered his opposition with no defense or real skill. Tyson on the other hand, could do it with speed, defense, and power.

Jeff Lacy was never one of our best. He struggled against Sheika and even Wiggins BEFORE his fight with Calzaghe. He also struggled with Tsypko and Manfredo and had losses to Taylor and a shot Jones afterward. Like some of the other fighters in boxing Lacy was a fighter made by television. Media hype and the truth are two different things. The fact that Lacy is one of Calzghe's best wins is sad and tells you why he doesn't get much credit.

Again, this is getting tedious. But since it was brought up:
Daily Mirror,June 1,1999:"I'm not chasing after Roy Jones.Be honest,Roy is a good fighter and I don't want tough fights.I just want big money."
Another Calzaghe gem:Joe Calzaghe is convinced ge will be the overriding factor when he meets Bernard Hopkins in Las Vegas. At 36,Calzaghe,who fights Hopkins on Sunday morning,is 7 years younger than his opponent."The guy is 43 years old-he's not the bionic man. He's human,"Calzaghe told BBC sport.

    More Jones stuff:
    www.thisislondon.co.uk/sport/article-5499540-details/i+am+the+best,+says+honest+joe+article.do
"I could probably give Jones a tough fight, probably the best he's ever had.But I know my capabilities and unless I got paid the crown jewels,I wouldn't want to risk it."

"No Ordinary Joe:the Autobiography of Joe Calzaghe" by Joe Calzaghe and Brian Doogan(2007):page 300 "I have no interest anymore in Roy Jones anymore and no interest in Antonio Tarver.Jones is washed up and tarver was never that good anyway. He just caught Jones when he was shot and Johnson did the same."
Once more: On Jones: "I would never want to fight him now. He's not the same fighter and I'd have nothing to gain by beating the shadow of what he once was."

What pisses me off is that I used to be a Calzaghe fan(my bad).
