Round 6 Calderon steps inside and lands a little hookercut to the chin. He's actually doing better when he comes forward, but won't consistently do it. Iribe keeps running him down and wailing with telegraphed left hooks and home-run right hands. Calderon is blocking a lot but getting his bell rung all the same.
Round 7 With Iribe's pace slowed down a bit, Calderon looks more comfortable moving and jabbing. Iribe is still ripping to the body whenever Calderon sits still for more than a moment. Iribe gets another wind and starts keeping up with Calderon, but isn't landing as much this round. A lot of lunging right hands are being sidestepped by Calderon. Body shots are getting through more than anything. Calderon braves a quick step forward for a 1-2 to the jaw and barely deflects a counter right hand to the temple on his way out.
Round 8 Calderon moving quickly. Calderon down; it's a slip. Calderon and Iribe posturing and very few punches being thrown. Calderon leads with jabs and lead lefts. The jab is on auto-pilot, not landing a lot but just hovering in front of Calderon like a shield. Iribe is giving him plenty of distance. Iribe walks in with his hands down and Calderon clips his chin with a left hand. Calderon is slinging out two at a time now as Iribe comes in. Calderon sticks a jab in Iribe's face at the bell. Good Calderon round.
You think this fight is competitive this guy is doing nothing only being a little agresive not even efective. Easy fight so far.
My - *ahem* - "method" of watching does not include any audio, so it could well be that people thinking Calderon is "dominating" are getting their ideas from the announcers. :conf
OK and up until a couple of rounds ago what the hell was Iron Boy doing effectively, except getting bullied?
Round 9 Calderon in a groove now, making Iribe miss and jabbing him on the lateral step. Iribe is in full gunslinger mode now, telegraphing his wide shots badly. The straight right has disappeared, replaced by a much fatter version of the punch that hooks out from his right hip in a big arc. Calderon's footwork and quickness winning him this round.
The second and third was like that the others is all Calderon. the 4 was little competitive. Iribe sometimes land body punches but no more.
