Povetkin or Haye ? Whos the better heavyweight ?

Povetkin won the gold medal superheavyweight divison.

Haye was stopped by Solis!

 

Povetkin beat Chambers, and did it better than Haye beat Valuev.

Both are scared of Wlad.

Povetkin edges it.

 

I don't see Haye beating Chagaev, who actually beat Valouev.

 

The answer depends on what criteria you are basing your judgement on. In terms of resume, the two are roughly equal (ie, neither fighter boasts an impressive one). Haye has an unimpressive, but still top 5 win over Valuev and a bottom top 10 win over John Ruiz. Povetkin has a stoppage win over a faded Chris Byrd and a top 5 win over Chambers.
Edge: Povetkin, as he looked more convincing in his win over Chambers than Haye did in his win over Valuev.

In terms of skillset, I think Haye has a clearer advantage. He has an electric combination of speed, power and natural athleticism. Even though he often fails to capitalize on his attributes, they still exist. Povetkin has a high output and puts together some good combinations, but he has average pop, lacks lateral movement and has shown trouble adapting to stylistic challenges. Plus, his chin's untested.
Edge: Haye

At the moment, neither are playing the role of convincing contender. Being that Povetkin has a slightly better resume, I would have to cast my vote for him. I really don't see either one challenging Wladimir Klitschko, however.

 

Haye ain't even a heavyweight. He's a lippy ****** with no testicles.

Povetkin would punish him.

 

I agree with most of this but people seem to forget that as well as an impressive amateur career Haye also unified at Cruserweight.

So maybe at Heavyweight his resume isn't spectacular but he did start in a completely different division albeit a weak one at that.

 

Haye had two title fights at Cruiser, which is the weakest division in all of boxing. He also suffered a loss in that weakest of all divisions. Ouch.

His accomplishment there are wildly, wildy overstated.

 

Povetkin has beaten better competetion in the form of Byrd and Chambers. I would go with Sascha.

 

I did say it was a weak division but at the same time he was the best there and proved it by unifying. Actually it kind of parallels with the Klits situation. Can't blame him for the competition.

He also had a fantastic amateur career capped off with success in the World Championships.

The loss. Well if a guy losing early in his career when trying to seriously step up in his competition is still a bad thing after he learns from it and then goes on to be a multi weight champ.......................:think

 

david hayes unifying the cruiserweight division in punishing fashion means more than a heavyweight gold medal in the Olympics ..ask henry tillman....beating chambers who was shut out by wlad doesnt boast much...people seem to think chambers is some kind of factor in anything....hes not..... haye edges him on potential...and both suck when it comes to being active....

 

Haye has broken two contracts with Klitschkos. Haye refuses to even respond to Klitschkos now. Povetkin won the gold in the superheavyweight division. Haye could not even win gold at smaller division! Solis stopped him in the amateurs.

 

You do realise that since before Haye had to loud mouth his way in to a Klit match, Povetkin has been in the drivers seat. Povetkin has been ducking a Klit fight for longer.

Also, does strength of competition mean nothing. Who did Povetkin beat to win the Super heavyweight gold medal that was better than Solis was in the amateurs. Its all comparative.

 

Out of your 22,239 posts im sure at least 22,000 have been sucking a Klitschko brothers **** and running down his opponent so much that it takes away from any Klitschko win.
