Can anyone name a fighter that lost a four-rounder to unheralded opposition in a fight they were favoured to win and still went on to lift a strap? There must be a couple.
HMMMMmmmmmmmm , so much for all the hype that's been given to these boys in the puertorican media... hope his brother is better. I know is still early in his career but it didn't look very good! Another case that proves that amateurs IS very different from pros... u can win all the medals in the world in the AM's, but in the pro's is a whole different game... ask the cubans if u are still skeptic!
I will say that the loss Arroyo took last night should not be considered a "Set-back". That was a HELLUVA 4-Round fight. Its a damn shame that it couldn't have been an 8-Rounder...Both fighters were throwing Bombs. I hope both fighters will eventually learn that it is PERFECTLY LEGAL in the sport of Boxing to have some DEFENSE. This one one of the few fights that if it was scored a DRAW...I would have NO Problems with the result. I was cool with the two scorecards that read 38-37, But 39-36...is just crazy.
You guys are idiots for quitting on a prospect after one loss. You guys are the reason that there's this "can't lose" mentality. An undefeated record means nothing. I hope that this loss makes this kid hungrier and he gets better. I wonder what people thought about Bernard Hopkins when he entered the ring for his second fight at 0-1? Losses mean nothing till they start piling up and showing that the fighter is shot. Arroyo didn't look shot, he looked hungry in the ring and helped put on exciting match. Just to make it clear, any fan that quits on someone after one loss is the bigger loser.
one tough fight doesnt mean exposed it just means he fought another good prospect instead of a tomato can but he'll come back from this :hat
Former heavyweight belt holder, Mike Weaver, was another fighter whose' record didn't start out so well.
