It's not a contradiction at all, the whole idea of a catchweight is to benefit a smaller opponent when there is a considerable difference in weight, if both come in at 146 and under when they fight at welterweight then what would the point of a 146 catchweight be considering it won't be an advantage to either?

Do you think Floyd will agree to a catchweight of 146 lbs.? I'm sure Pacquiao will accept 146. :D

BTW you got the definition of catchweight all wrong. It's not for the benefit of the smaller boxer. Think about level playing field.

If Pacquiao takes the tests they want and wins there won't be any excuses from me whatsoever.

If Mayweather wins I expect the traffic to this place from the Philippines to take a massive dip but the few that do stay should admit he was beaten by a more talented opponent rather than making excuses about size.

just the same, floyd is the naturally heavier and bigger man...

height and reach surely spell a big difference when fighting a fighter like floyd who almost often backpedals his way to victory...

I'm sure he would if you could put forward a good argument for there being one and compensated him for it with other concessions going his way.

You said it yourself, at 146 there's no advantage to either. Why can't the fight be made at that weight? There will be no compensation to be made since no one is giving an advantage to the other at 146.

Mayweather's height and reach are exactly the same as Eric Morales (according to boxrec) so perhaps this picture demonstrates the difference better.

So again, what would be the point of it if it doesn't give either an advantage?

You don't seem to be able to answer this point.

you're as sly as a fox. I take it you're referring to nsac when you said "they", right?

because how will the fight be made if there was no clear agreement about the tests from both parties.:hey

no need to set conditions here buddy. a win is a win. no ifs and buts. credit goes to the winner. :yep simple as that.. just keep your end of the bargain by refraining to come up with ridiculous excuses if floyd gets starched by pacman and we're both good here.:good

My reference to them taking the tests they want is because the fight won't get made without them.

Give me a very good reason why the fight can't be made at 146 catchweight?

PAC is comfortable at 146. Floyd is comfortable at 146. No need to go to the welter limit of 147.

So have one just for the sake of having one then?

I answered your question so maybe you can answer mine too.

Why the fight can't be made at 146 catchweight?

You didn't answer my question at all.

You said there was a case for the fight being made at a catchweight of 146, I asked you what that was and then you said both fighters make the weight easy which suggests it wouldn't benefit either fighter.

So if it doesn't benefit either then what would be the point of having one?

    Answer: There is no point.
