Why can't a line be drawn under the 'concrete gloves' scandal?

    1. At that time Rockgloves was very well regarded in the boxing community as a top flight fighter (though there were some who were able to recognize him as a slow plodder who somehow was able to win some fights - the real reason coming out just before the Mosley fight).

Cotto, in losing to Rockgloves, did not therefore become a lesser man and drop from the rankings. No, instead, he remained a relevant fighter who lost a tough fight. It's unclear why he wouldn't remain eligible for top fights post-Rockgloves. If Floyd and Pacquiao fight, do you feel the loser should be unallowed to contest a world title in their very next fight? I wouldn't feel that way. When a man is proven, that leaves him on the list of guys who can contest for a world title. Despite losing to Rockgloves, Cotto remained a guy who could contest for a title.

    2. That only makes my argument stronger, if you feel that way. Why would Cotto be ineligible to contest a world title against Foreman after only losing to the very best fighter in the world prior to that?

Just based on the fact that Rockgloves has literally been caught in the act in the past.

Bottom line: If you are busted cheating, you don't deserve the benefit of the doubt. There will always be questions about your character, sportsmanship, integrity and balls. Always.

fact of the matter is he was caught with loaded wraps.

the boxer and trainer should be banned for life.

Right, and the simple idea that the Mosley incident was not Margarito's only infraction(based on no prior evidence) is way more plausible than the fact that countless of boxing pros had checked his gloves prior without any evidence of impropriety!

    Stay away from jury duty!

It's frightening that anyone could possibly believe a guy would only start cheating in this way so late in his career.

He deserves to be in the ring with Cotto? How about he stops lying about the fact he knew what was being placed inside his wraps and stop pushing all the blame on to his trainer.

He was banned for a year...which means he had a whole year to think about what he was going to tell the public. If he admitted he seen what was placed inside his gloves instead of lying again...then maybe I'd think if he works his way through some contenders, he could possibly get himself a title shot.

Until he admits everything...he doesn't deserve to share the ring with Cotto just because he wants a big payday. Let him call out Mosley, he was the one who knocked him out...shouldn't he be chasing that bout more instead of the guy he already has a win over?

Margarito's win over Martinez alone trumps Cotto's entire resume.
(Not to mention getting his ass handed to him by Tony.)

Bingo. The fact that he has uses his trainer as his scapegoat is the sickening part. If he came clean, I'd let it go and move on. The fact that he's hiding and lying about everything is what I can't stomach.
