He has to think about Povetkin otherwise he'd be stripped of his title. Povetkin is his mandatory and the only way he could have delayed that fight, was by taking Haye in an unification bout. Now... there was a deadline set for deciding such a fight. Wlad challenged Haye, Haye didn't take the challenge so logically, Wlad will fight his mandatory. Plus, why put your career on hold for a dude who clearly doesn't want to fight you, for the time being?

I know Haye needs to step up and fight Wlad like he was saying all along he's going to, but the fight that really needs to happen already is Wlad-Povetkin, get to get it out of the way and allow the rest of the HW Division to get on with their lives.

Before I even opened this thread I expected to see something exactly like this.

Haye wants no part of Wlad, plain and simple.

I do think Haye wants to face Wlad. I think for starters he'd rather face Vitali first since thats a better match up for him. I also think he's trying to milk a fight or two out of his title which is why he'll probably face someone like Harrison or Rahman next. And I also think this is all somewhat of a bargaining ploy on Haye's part. The Klitschko's keep conceeding more and more because they both want to face Haye, by holding out this long he's already looking at a better deal than he would have gotten a year ago. So if he holds out some more than maybe his end of the deal gets better yet.

I think Haye faces atleast one of the brothers next year, barring some sort of upset to Haye. Of course, Haye could have no intention of facing either guy and is running his mouth for the publicity of it. He looks bad right now, but I think by this time next year things will look different.

Has Povetkin stated that he's finally willing to take that big step? If he still refuses, Wlad should seriously consider Adamek.

Thanks for the info. Even if Haye is unwilling, at least the Povetkin fight will be interesting and should offer some high drama.........while it lasts.

I do agree with that, but, and it's a big but, if Wlad accepts a fight with Povetkin whilst negotiations with Haye are on going, this talk of "ducking" has to stop. There were several sources claiming the fight was signed last week and in those threads, people were claiming Haye had ducked the fight, which, if that happens, is unfair.

I don't mind who Haye or Wlad fight next though, honestly. I would prefer it happen when the fight has more interest but if it's their next fight, great. I just hope it's a fair deal for both men.

Interestingly, Haye is not allowed to talk about negotiations yet Klitschko's manager is. That isn't fair for obvious reasons, which is why I don't trust these quotes saying a 50/50 split has been offered. Considering how poor the offer was before, I find it hard to believe the Klitschko's would make such an effort to get Haye into the ring.

Error. Wlad's too good for someone like Povetkin. His best win is Chambers in a fight he was losing for the first six rounds. Mobile guys with a good jab and command of distance will cause him problems. What's Wlad again? Yep - Wlad's going to make him look ponderous and as average as he is.

It's amazing that people talk about what these guys need to do to beat Wlad, while ignoring they've never shown any of the adaptability to do so. It'll be another business as usual win for Wlad, that will be technically sound but totally dull. Not Wlad's fault bar his reluctance to finish his man, but it's worked for him ever since his last loss - why change?

Wlad-Haye's going to happen, but Haye obviously wants it on his terms. And from what Booth has been saying, he wants Vitali's WBC belt first so he can control the negotiations.

I agree on many front heres. I can't imagine Wlad ever offering a 50/50 split....maybe a 50/50 split of the british TV deal...at best.

As far as this Haye is ducking bs. Given that Haye did sign that incredably shitty deal last time round and all he does is talk about the klits if Wlad isn't his next fight or if he doesn't reach an agreement to fight Wlad after a tune-up fight or something then I have no problem with people calling someone a ducker as long as they are balanced understand boxing is a bussiness and as fighters they are dam lucky its a free market. All you have to do is look at the UFC and you can see how fighters get treated like cannon foder when a promoter has ultimate control.

See here's the thing that I don't get...why would he want Vitali's belt first when Vitali is the one that brings in more money? If your strickly talking howmuch money can a fight generate they way he had it the first time, with Wlad first and Vitali second seemed to make more sense. A Vitali Haye fight after Haye has beaten Wlad would be way more massive thena Wlad haye fight after he's beaten Vitali. When I hear something like that it makes me think one of two things. 1) Haye thinks he has a better chance against Vitali then Wlad (I disagree with this). Or 2) Haye is screwing around and trying to capitalize on some divide between the two brothers (surrounding which one wants to face Haye) in order to get a better deal. Third thing I think of course is that HAye doesn't fancy his chances of beating either and wants the fight the bigger money maker of the two. I'll give him the benifit of the doubt on that one though.

IDK. I hate to say a fighter is DUCKING. I do think at this point Hayes doesnt want the fight... but I do think he will later after he gets more fights and puts some cash in the bank

I don't know if there is much more Haye can get than whats on the table now. Maybe venue, ring size, or some other minor concessions are all that is left. But you would have to admit by him holding out this long it has helped him at the bargaining table. Thats if he does intend to face one of the brothers, if he doesn't than there is really no way of defending Haye.
