I forgot eubank but i still don't count him...i LOVE prime chris but that simply wasn't it. if woodhall comes as a package deal with reid then i don't think either should count. woodhall is too much of a stretch and if your resume is resting on that, calzaghe has already lost.

this is what I meant, you have to fight and argue and look hard for credible opponents and you come up with woodhall?

I think it's more than fair saying that he had 4 real credible opponents in his life. He convincingly beat 2 of them, lacy and kessler and scrapped by reid and hopkins. those are the facts

For the love of god his track record is truly bleak. People rag on RJJ but his resume looks like a murderers row compared to slappy's. With RJJ you can make the argument he was holding guys back. Looking at Joe's resume he was just sparring with gym rats and pushing senior citizens and never were fighters out the door. The winner of the super 6 will easily have surpassed his entire career in 5 fights.

not all his fans put him on a pedestal you clown, they just recognise that his talent and his achievements are worth talking about and obviously a lot of people think the same. and what is this real boxing you speak of, i take it you mean only american, yes you have some great boxers that us brits stay up till 6 in the morning to watch. but a great talent like joe c is worth a thread on here, and will go down as one of the best smw ever...

Bails, you could make the argument, and some have, that Calzaghe is a tale of 2 careers. Pre and Post Lacy. I agree with those who saay the competition was better post.

PS- you know my feelings on eubank. He was definitely on his way out.

Thats why his next to fight after was a close loss in world class and his fight after that he was ahead before pulled out with an injury, and didnt go down in either, though against Calzaghe he was soundly beaten by the underdog and put down, and Collins 3 fights before could only get a SD. These are facts

Calzaghe already gets the respect he deserves, if not more.

Yeah, i'd expect Joe beat him up pretty good, and did what a superior fighter at that stage of his career should have. He did what he had to, you can't take it away from him. But Eubank lost 3 in a row to close out his career if I remember my facts right. Wasn't Joe the 1st of those 3? Didn't he also lose 5 out of his last 8 or 9 fights?
Seems like a telling trend to me. He was on his way out. A couple of valiant losing efforts doesn't turn back the clock.

Be a bit more specific with the fighters mentioned on the page your discussing please.
Calzaghe beat a reigning champ in Hopkins not an ex champ in Holyfield, so what you wrote there is really clutching at straws

i dont know about that fella, some people on ESB seem to have a list as long as there arm who he has ducked or who would of beat him. all boxers have fights that dont happen for one reason or another, but some people cant except he was a great talent in todays boxing. :thumbsup

If you say so, but what does this have to do with Calzaghe and his opposition?

Who have what to do with Calzaghe and his opposition?
    Still Calzaghe beat em all.
