I don't get why you think you need to lift light?

If you want to maintain your muscle mass and strength you gotta lift heavy, otherwise your body will get rid of the muscle as it's not needed to lift heavy things...

Lift weights in the mornings but just stick to 2-4 heavy compound lifts.

Why not 3? Not saying he should lift 3 times a week just wondering why it looks like you said that like it's a rule or something.

**** that, lift weights before and after you box. This will improve your typle L-M-N-O-P muscle fibers which effect endurance in an anaerobic and an aerobic way. :good

    j/k.

Do you want to compete in boxing? If so I'd get rid of the excess mass as quick as I can.

Should he lift full body routine or split....?

I think he should do two full body routines aweek, coupled this with his boxing trainning sessions.

And i don't think he should do weight trainning on his boxing days.
