How are we supposed to make an accurate prediction with no film available of Sullivan, nor anyone he ever fought for that matter?
Well I suppose we can use our imagination.... Hey, who would you take between the Lochness monster and bigfoot?
Depends where the fight takes place. Its basically a different sport. If its in a loch, then the monster has to be favoured. In a dense forest, then the big foot holds the advantage and his experience on dry land makes up for the 2000lb weight disadvantage. Perhaps the big foot in his own environment has more of an advantage than the monster does in his. Its a completely different sport. A more elusive style is employed in a dense forest which works in sync with the not so easily navigated scenery. The monster would not be able to just bull ahead. It would probably be stopped on cuts due to relentless peppering pressure(ala Harry Greb) and branches that stick out. Some may say the monster has ATG elusiveness himself, however there are newspaper reports of sightings around the coast of Australia also. Level of competition is also a big plus for the big foot. Nessy pads his record with only journeyman gingervitis patients in skirts who are more interested in breezing their naked balls through a bag and a pipe, then campaigning competatively. Big foot has seen off relentless, over zealous rednecks with Hulk Hogan-esque enthusiasm and desire to achieve..and yet not once has the footmeister looked troubled. Hypothetically, i do not fancy the monster's chances. Infact his only chance i see is a hometown aquatic advantage, in which he must drag big foot into deep waters and be determined to pressure and stop him late on.
As they each were at their best -- probably Bowe. If they come along at the same time and develop in analogy (ie, in proportion to the opportunities to develop) to how they developed in their own times -- probably Sullivan.
Getting a bit bored with the 1000 fantasy fight threads every day. I just read the same arguments over and over. The bottom line is it's impossible to know without any real footage of Sullivan. Yes you can look at his opposition and try compare but it's pretty pointless if you ask me. Totally different era's , totally different fighters.
I have to agree.. Frankly, I don't like comparing fantasy match-ups with anyone pre Louis to modern fighters... Guys like Dempsey, Tunney, Willard, Johnson, Jeffries, Fitz, Corbett and Sullivan are fine to compare to each other, but leave them out of fights that discuss Lewis, Bowe, Ali, Holmes, Tyson, Foreman or anyone else of that vintage...
I really don't know. I could tell you approximately what Sullivans style was, and what his strengths and weakneses were, but it would still leave a lot of room for interpretation.
Sullivan KO 1 Bowe- Sullivan hip tosses riddick onto his back. As sullivan charges in for the finish, bowe kicks sullivan in the groin..making sullivan fall to his knee for a 9 count. Sullivan gets up angry, smashes bowes head with a beer bottole, then lands a roundhouse bar room right hand knocking Riddick off the stage onto a piano. Bowe tries to get up, but referee arthur mercante counts him out.
