Just saw this article On The Scene Promoter Gary Shaw had a recent meeting with HBO and pitched the idea of a big 140-pound tournament. Fighters would include Timothy Bradley, Devon Alexander, Amir Khan, and Juan Manuel Marquez - if he beats Juan Diaz next month. According to Shaw, Khan and his promoters Golden Boy Promotions were not interested in being involved. Shaw wanted a big Press Conference with two fighters or all of them picking first round opponents from a hat. We all know Shaw's full of ****, But if this is true this a major dissapointment from Khan and Goldenboy. This a idea we've seen dicussed on here and would truly sort out who's the man at 140. Already a thread on this bud. And yeah Shaw is full of ****, but at the same time we know Shaw wants Khan before Alexander. Alexander beats Bradley horribly IMO and Shaw knows it. Khan is the cash cow at 140. Alexander's got a good following. Bradley can't pull 200 in his own hometown. Bradley's desperate to get in a couple of paydays before he get's in with a big risk in Alexander.

I think Goldenboy already have Khan-Marquez lined up for the end of the year, provided Marquez wins the Diaz rematch, so i can see why they wouldn't want to commit to a tournament where Khan could draw Bradley or Alexander next which could both scupper that fight, and Khan's career. Having said that, i don't believe a word that comes out of Gary Shaw's mouth.

Glad some else has noticed that. He's to brave for his own good. True meaning of a warrior. And we know what happens to great warriors as they are in final days of careers. They get fed to the young lions. Sad Really but he ain't the first and won't be the last.
Bradley beats Khan and Alexander. Reserving judgement on JMM til he fights again. Still would rather see him fight Jatsidis at 135 and skip a move to 140.

:deal Thank You All this hype over Alexander and Khan is silly. Bradley's truly proven himself so far as the main man. By beating good opponents at 140lbs. Alexander didn't look great against Witter but no one does and the Urango fight i think many people get fooled by the knock out. He's good but Timmy's no Urango.
Marquez said to GoldenBoy that after this fight he wants to become a 4-weight world champion. If that's what he desires then Khan would be the best way to do it. He is supposedly a 'paper champ' in some people's eyes so supposedly he'd be the easiest out of the champs and bring the most money to the table. In the end it would be Marquez's decision.
@Mandanda: Alexander was impressive against Urango, but the hype now surrounding him is ridiculous. I'm not certain Khan would beat Lamont Peterson, so for me to pick him over Bradley/Alexander is absurd, especially as I cannot even contrive a stylistic reason for Khan to beat either of them. I also hate how people say 'Bradley got floored by Holt who doesn't have a very high KO%' when it's clear to see that Holt is a deadly puncher at times, THAT hook was a beast, and that Bradley has awesome powers of recovery. I cannot fathom why peeps are picking Alexander to stop Bradley, or to outfox a man who's proven himself adept against quite a few styles.
