how much more would calzaghe have to do to get the respect he deserves?

Some probably lost respect for him because of his Coke abuse.

Was he on the powder during his fights ?

He was a hell of a fighter !!!

SO true.

But still, Lacy did NOTHING after that.
Sadly, i can't give that much credit for beating him.

Best wins are Kessler and Hopkins.

instead of writing a long reply(which i hate)

i'll just tell you to educate yourself on the calzaghe story to know
how badly wrong you are.

So you have all these great elites who can beat Calzaghe and none of them did :huh
While I agree you have some good fighters, lets not get taken in and swept away by The Ring and TV now. Look at Moselys win resume and its not as good as it first appears, he has a win over Holiday, a great win over De La Hoya and then a win over Margarito whos career now has a cloud over it. Its not better than Calzaghes when you look at it. Dawson knocked down many times by far lesser fighters on more than one occassion and has a good win over LHW Adamek but looks lucky not to get KOd by Johnson whos got how many losses and is a lesser fighter than alot of Calzaghe victims. P Williams who may do well but hasnt done anything beyond what Calzaghe did and has a lesser resume, but because these fighters are based in America and recognised they are given credit and in The Rings P4P ratings yet a guy like Haye who has won WBA WBC WBO Ring CW titles and is now WBA HW champ isnt in the P4P ratings by the Ring. Says something, he even won most of those titles away
i'll give you an a+ for that post:good

it doesn't matter how many times you tell people this, they still don't
listen.
let them continue to shower in there bias and ignorance.

it wasn't low reward for hopkins.

he was going to get the biggest purse of his career for the calzaghe fight.

he just didn't take it because he knew he would of lost the fight.

:thumbsup i doubt he was taking coke during his fighting career it wouldn't help his performance at all. most joe c fans i think will let him off for the coke. After his strict boxing lifestyle most wont mind him having wild party nights with the millions he has earned... most would do the same.

haha, normally i disagree with that but with calzaghe it might be true. though to be fair, he'd likely be overrated if he was

1. Outside of Hamed, Hatton, and Khan, British fighters are local garbage.
2. The super middle division as a newer division and rightfully has no prestige as it normally just a stopping off point for talented middle weights moving to LHW. No one cares if Joe had 2000 title defense at super middle.
3. At the beginning of his reign the WBO was not recognized as a legit sanctioning body. It's still the most lightly regarded of the sanctioning bodies. maybe it shouldn't be recognized.
4. British(euro fans in general) fans are so unknowledgeable about boxing they will watch fixed fight and **** poor match ups for years and don't know the difference between the garbage fights and real deal competitive fights. Look as the clowns calling up names like Sheika and Manfredo like its a damn accoplishment beating these journeyman. You guys literally can't tell the difference and as long as your fans continue to fill soccer stadiums for **** poor fights, American fans will never give your guys any respect.
5. Joe would have finished with at least 5 losses had he fought in the US rather than GB. His defense is garbage and any puncher younger than 40 would have opened up his hole to about 4 inches in diameter. He is one of the biggest frauds in the history of the sport. May god have mercy on your soul.
3.many great champs have held that belt.

Nothing, We as Americans cannot give credit to a white fighter outside our shores.

Anyone who disrespects 46-0 with over half his fights as title fights really doesn't have a clue about boxing. Why do most fighters have their Baldomir in the case of Judah? Or their Forrest in the case of Mosley? So on and so forth.

See, unlike most fighters, Calzaghe gets the credit and respect that counts - from legitimate all time greats and current superstars like Sugar Ray Leonard, Nigel Benn, Roy Jones Jr, Floyd Mayweather Jr, etc.
