I've got a lot of respect for the skills of Amir Khan, and I used to respect Haye, but going over Amir Khan's choices for his next fight: Katsidis, Casamayor, Diaz, Marquez and Murray. All lightweights. I can understand that Maidana is trying to resolve the dispute with his manager, Bradley is booked, Alexander is booked, Golden Boy are not going to risk Ortiz losing again, Campbell is shot and had already been shut out. The way i see it the only lightweight that Amir Khan has the right to fight is Breidis Prescott, who just happens to have moved up to 140. By fighting him Khan would have proved his mettle against a puncher and cleared the skeletons in his closet by avenging his only defeat (just like Lennox avenged his knockout defeats). Who do you think (realistically) that Khan should fight?
marquez is a good fight for khan. If floyd can fight marquez why cant khan? Katsidiz is also a good fight, a much better fight than paulie. Cassamayor however is shot to pieces.
I agree that Katsidis would be a good fight, in fact i was hoping that Katsidis would be his July opponent. As for Marquez, Mayweather was criticised for fighting him at 147, and to be truthful he didn't look as good at lightweight against Juan Diaz than he did at 130.
The idea that khan sells in the uk outside of the pakistani community and bolton is just not true he is hated mainly because he's pakistani and muslim first british second khan doesn't sell ****
Marquez is only a name now, nothing more. The good fight would be Marquez vs Barrera and Khan should aim a little bit higher.
You're talking **** mate.He has fans from all communities this hate you're going on about apart from a few bigots simply doesn't exist.People might question how good he is and his glass jaw,but that has nothing to do with race.
khan needs to fight prescott yes. marquez at this point should stay at lightweight where he wil rule for 1 year more at least khan is too big for marquez 5'6 to 5'11 and a bigger reach advantage isnt attractive. marquez wud b stopped in that fight just by his workrate similar to vernon forest and shane mosley
How many current British boxers could sell out a 10000 capacity arena in a town they've never fought in before against an opponent with the name recognition of Dimitry Salita :think
Katsidis is a good fight and probably a big learning experience for Khan. Katsidis would make him fight and dig deep. That would be an excellent fight. Marquez-Khan is a 50/50 fight, what´s not to like about that?
Katsidis was completely outboxed and outclassed by Diaz...a victim of Malignaggi. Period, end of sentence.
That does not mean his tickets wont sell. Lets look at Mayweather. Probably the most hated boxer of my era. You dont have to be loved to do good ticket sales. Some people will go to hope you loose! Even if you were right (which you are clearly not) Khan is not as hated as people think. I went to his last U.K fight. Not only was the event a sellout, and he was cheered on by everyone.
Oh and Khans 3 credible fights IMO are: Marquez (fought at WW so why not LWW) Kastadis (cant see this happening) Maidaina (sorry for wrong spelling of name) Prescot (Would have said yes before but this has losts its crediblity IMO)
