Lauri was not fully prepared but he was looking straight at McCloskey so to say he was "paying absolutely no attention" is bull****.

He was not expecting the punch, not braced at all, he was paying no attention.

Not expecting the punch and paying absolutely no attention are two different things Dom. Standing in front of your opponent, looking directly at them is what I would call paying attention. It's irrelevant anyway, you're trying to discredit the win and McCloskey's power as if it's the only time he's ever knocked out an opponent. He has stopped his last 4 and I'm pretty sure the other guys were paying attention.

I have absolutely no intention of discrediting McCloskey's punch, it was a peach of a punch as ive already stated and he took advantage of a lapse in concentration (and so he should), but Lauri is a guy who is very much cast as the opponent nowadays and was dispatched in far more impressive fashion by Witter and Hatton.

The fight was very close and McCloskey was stretched far to much by a guy of Lauri's ability and hit far to easily and yet somehow he decks Khan???, who is lightyears away from Lauri in terms of ability and athlecitism. For someone who barely landed a big punch on Lauri (European fringe at best) i find it quite baffleing, it not as if Khan is going to sit in the pocket and be lulled into trying to bully McCloskey on the inside (although its highly possible that he could manage it), hes going to sit behind the jab and bully McCloskey with it, whilst peppering him with hard shots if McCloskey tries to advance on him, it would be a mismatch and it would end in a stoppage before the 5th.

I wish people would stop pretending that Khan is as easy to hit before he hooked up with Roach as well, although his footwork is predictable it is very quick. I also find it baffleing that people assume his durability will be as bad as it was at lightweight where he was weight drained and dehydrated, his body shape and conditioning has changed along with being able to make weight more comfortably.

So here we are again, judging McCloskey on one fight, his worst fight. So let's only judge Khan on his 54 seconds against Prescott. If Khan's durabilty is so much improved why was his last fight against the most featherfisted boxer in the division (if not all divisions)? Weight drained my ass, Khan is chinny, he always will be and McCloskey has more than enough skill and power to expose him yet again so don't act like it's an impossibility.

Judge him on his career as a whole, not one off night. Do you really need me to tell you this?

mcCloskey was on his way to the win anyway BUT the fact is that Lauri offered to touch gloves to apologise for hitting on the break but paul refused..while lauri was shrugging his shoulders and tilting his head in a "fine be like that" kind of gesture he got tagged..its pretty obvious he was in no way prepared to take a shot ..his own fault and cant take it away from mcclosky but the irish fans shouldnt get all touchy when its pointed out.

McCloskey has cheek calling Khan out?

Khan has cheek fighting Malignaggi and Casamayor while ducking Maidana.

I wasn't aware that Khan had fought Casa, must have slipped past me. Are you following the Maidana saga? If so you will obviously realise what a stupid comment yours is...how can you duck a man who is refusing to fight?

why dont you carefuly watch the replays on youtube and ignore the sky commentaters, Lauri had his hands fully up and his eyes firmly on McCloskey when he got sparked out.

The difference being that im judgeing McCloskey on his last performance and your judging Khan on a performance which is so far behind him in terms of progress you may well have not mentioned it.

The very fact that you deny that he was weight drained is quite silly and shows how knowledgable you really are, Khan chin will never be iron you can see that from his amatuer career but being weight drained played a huge part in Khans lightweight career, to deny it is simply stupid. McCloskey's power is also untested at world level, its one thing knocking over fighters like Lauri (who is there to be hit and has been stopped a number of times) but what happens when he steps up a level?, you might find he didnt have quite as much power as you first thought.

Finally on what evidence would McCloskey be able to land on Khan convincingly, if fighters at world level such as Paulie and Kotelnik cant land on Khan what makes you think McCloskey will?. When McCloskey beats someone at there kind of level then i might re-evaluate where i stand with this fight. As it stands both beat McCloskey:good
