Its a cliche but often the simplest explanation is the most likely. He got over anxious and gassed out. No need to go on about poison or whatever. I'm not totally discounting it but I think the truth is likely to be far more prosaic.
Someone made the excellent comparison to Mosely/Floyd.

Wlad was clearly ill, whatever the cause. He had his hands down by his side and was breathing heavily as early as the second round. Brewster was landing nothing of note and Klitschko's output was not abnormally high.

:patsch I dont think being fatigued resorted from him being ill! It was more of Wlad not fighting a pace that would benifit himself.

He was ill because of Brewster's left hand.

    STFU!

why do you think Wlad only throws like one right hand per round these days? he has poor stamina so stinks out the joint with the pawing jab

Why change something that works every single time?

His jab is a thing of beauty, and he knocks people the **** out.

He came to put a statement for American public by knocking Brewster out quick. he was putting power behind his punches, throwng right hands, hooks, everything and he gassed. In their second fight he was just controlling the distance, had his mind set on 12 rounds and just threw jab after jab till Brewster's corner gave up.

It did seem odd, all through round 5 he was holding alot and looking tired. He only really seemed to get caught with one good clean shot, which didnt put him flat down, and was given a count, which gave him recovery time. He didnt look too hurt but did look ill, I thought.
I think he was unwell, but who knows, it was strange to be fair

Brewster had many free shots at Wlad and couldn't put him out cold. Klitschko didn't look like he'd been KO'd after the fight, he looked like he was under anasthesia.

    he was ill

    seemed pretty obvious.

I'm not a pro-Wlad fan at all, but to me it seemed obvious that he was ill, not just gassed.
