no1 said it just an absolute clueless arm chair fan who knows nothing about nothing. Sad sad little man. You sound so pathetic
I only brought it up becuase i remembered reading that Bellew reckons he has never had a beating in sparring whereas I no different he then admits to Price giving him a tough time but admitedly he was unfit.
if your gonna bring stuff up have the info to back it up u keep mentioning it but then say lets leave it i just dont get it i reckon no one has said what u claim and you just dislike tony
That's true..... but surely you realise the advantage of bringing someone along quicker if they are showing the ability to do so? If a lad with high potential, such as Bellew (or Groves for that matter) is doing really well, there isn't any need to hold them back. It's a bain of boxing in this country that we feel the need to knock any young kid having a good start, or hold them back ''until they have proven themselves'' - you can't fight absolutely everybody. I'm not talking about throwing someone in recklessly like Fernando Vargas was (or Kevin Mitchell was really) - it's about making the right moves at the right time..... not waiting and waiting and waiting for a weak champion. All that does is cheapen the achievement anyway. Bellew needs some hard fights, and it's up to Warren to deliver them. It's too easy to say ''we can't get anyone in Britain to take it'' - well, **** Britain, **** the domestic scene and look abroad. I'm sure there are plenty of hardcases in Germany that would fancy 8 or 10 rounds with Bellew so long as the £££ is right. Warren just isn't delivering at the minute, simple as that. No doubt he will get his house in order soon.... I'm sure this isn't the first time it's happened.
agreed. this is what I call fast tracking after 2 1/2 years as a pro these fighters had; Nigel Benn - 22 fights (4 Commonwealth title defences) Lennox Lewis - 18 fights (British & European Champion, made US Debut) Jon Conteh - 20 fights (British, Commonwealth and European Champion) thats called fast tracking. Bellew and Gavin are being let down by there promoter. And Arnie i don't get why your saying **** George Groves and fighters learn in the gym becasue Groves has spared with world champions like Carl Froch which world champions have Bellew and Gavin been sparring with recently? I agree with you about not rushing but your two best fighters are moving at a snails pace.
Compared to fighters around me mate, I do feel I've been fast tracked, A load of 4 rounders then one 6 rounder an 8 rounder then another 6 then title fight.. I was supposed to fight Fry,Stubbs,Ajisafe,McKenzie and Oakey but ended up with Moore mate.. I'd have liked it 3 fights before but eh I don't make the matches and shows my manager does.. Im happy with my career so far to be totally honest, I had serious hand surgery in between all this too mate.. I feel I'll reach world level within the next 12 months hopefully..:good
You shouldn't be comparing yourself to an average fighter though mate becuase you have the potential to be better than that. You may have supposed to of fight those guys but you didn't so there irelivent. Your managment are letting you down. Just because those fights didnt come of doesnt mean they still shouldnt happen now. If those were your next 5 fights i would be very very happy as long as it didnt take a year to get them done. If you fight for a world title in 12 months times its going to be just like Kevin Mitchell. You have yet to fight someone at domestic title level, he was the same 2 fights at that level and he got completley outclassed and sparked out by a average world champion. If your serious about being a world champion in 12 months you need to ditch the commonwealth. Ajitse is the level you should have been fighting at a year ago. Get a fight over 10 round with some x world title challanger. Ottis Griffin, Jeff Lacy, Yussuf Mack, Elvir Murqui. then move onto guys who have held world titles more recently and are still ranked, like Campillo, Garay and Diaconou. have 5 10 rounders agaisnt oppoennts like that and by December next year you will be ready. Fingting Ajitse, McEnzie, McIntosh and then winning the vacant european is not going to prepare you for the world scene.
You sound like an ok bloke Tony, any plans of coming down to London and fighting. Cheers in advance.:hi:
It works both ways though mate. Look at Gavin Rees and, to a lesser extent, Rendall Munroe as examples. Neither seemed to be well prepared for their 'step up' fights either.
I agree with everything you've said there and I'd love nothing more than fighting them names, Maybe Chris Henry too but it's simple mate. My job is to fight and not promote.. Believe me though when I get to world level I will be ready of that you can be sure.. Stephen1234 I'll hopefully be fighting in london sometime this year.. like I have said I fully believe Frank is the man to take me where I wanna be, Fighting in a stadium for a world title..:good
Rendall Munroe has had 6 European title defences and won an eliminator. Gavin Rees got lucky against M'Baye who probably barley trained for the fight after discovering his opponents. that was a fluke. Besides does Tony wanna be like Rees winning a title and loseing it next fight, ending up in Prizefighter, or does he wanna be like Lennox Lewis, Nigel Benn and John Conteh??
I meant Munroe when he fought for the Euro title. And whether M'Baye trained or not, Rees wasn't even boxing the top domestic fighters when he got the opportunity to fight for a 'world' title. And I am sure Tony doesn't want to have a career like Rees, but I was just pointing out that fighters can step up a level when they don't seem prepared for it :good
Anythings possible if you work hard enough and are plainly good enough.. I definitly believe I work hard enough but time will only tell if I am good enough I suppose, Let it be known though, I firmly believe Im good enough and do want a step up asap..
