'Boxing is just two people punching each other in the face.'

I've been told this many times by friends who don't have a clue about boxing, and wondered how you would explain how it is so much more than 'two people punching each other in the face'.

Boxing is the purest artform of combat. Two men outwitting there opponent in a physical chess battle.

in some big fights lately ive been wishing this was the case to be honest

 

Dont explain it to them, just slug them on the bridge of their nose and say "Does that make you a boxer now tosspot, or maybe just a mouthy ****"

Say go away and look at the sport before just using some blasé phrase to explain a sport you have little knowledge of

 

Really it does boil down to this (if you add 'head and body' to the phrase)
