Agreed and you do hear that he was the only man to have beaten Oscar twice. It's all part of the sport unfortunately like saying Holyfield drew with Lewis.
IMO Mosley did a better job in the first fight then the second, yet they gave Shane a split dec in the first fight and a unani in the second where i thought Oscar did a better job. Oscar in the second fight did a great job of changing his style up from the first fight and outboxed Mosley from the outside, attacking with nice combos from time to time. I saw the two fights with Mosley for Oscar as "damned if i do,and damned if i dont." He brang the fight the first time and Mosley got the SD.Oscar changed it up and boxed more instead of stalking the whole time in the second, and Mosley got the UD.:huh
You can't compare it to the first one, the first one was crazy. The second one has a lot more action than you probably remember though. When you say "it sucks, I don't want to watch it again," it kinda sounds like, "I don't want to watch Mosley lose."
Oscar outboxed Shane clearly in this fight. But Shane was so strong at the end, obviously reaping the effects of EPO, and his punches looked like they were hurting Oscar. I guess that tilted the decision his way in the eyes of the judges.
When I first watched it I was kind of bummed as it didn't live up to the pre-fight hype and expectations from the first fight. I was also influenced by the commentators in the after show ripping these fighters for putting on such a poor effort considering the money they were paid. Jeff Fenech really gave it to Oscar, saying he had no heart and only fought for the pay check. But in watching it back, it was actually a decent fight.
Yes, that is what I've always said. Oscar was trying to prove he wasn't a runner as he appeared the last couple rounds vs. tito and that played right into Mosleys hands. Reverse the 2 fight strategies with Tito and Shane and Oscar would have KO'd Tito and won a UD over Mosley in their first fight
I haven't seen this fight since it aired live, but I felt that Mosley landed the better, more effective shots. I score fights for effectiveness rather than activity. It's been a long time, so I won't make a conclusion, but I don't think it was a robbery. If you consider that Moslely was on roids though, Oscar deserved the win.
its was an unpopular decision but you seem to be making more out of it then what it is. if you are going to complain about dlh-mosley as being one of the worst decisions during the decade, how can you not mention the dlh-sturm fight, which you can argue was a worst decision then dlh-mosley II. their first fight was more meaningful as well, as both were younger, and mosley at a better wieght 147. and in that fight, mosley flat out beat dlh.
Oscar-Mosley II was a far bigger and more important fight than Oscar-Sturm, and had far bigger implications for the participants and the sport than Oscar-Sturm did.
dlh-sturm was the set-up fight for a big fight vs.bernard hopkins, the middlewight champion. do you think it wouldn't been hard to see that fight had dlh lost to a unknown fight like sturm?
