    As in the title

Sources close to the situation say that Martinez has as we thought vacated and stepped up to Middleweight after beating Pavlik. He is set to meet Zbik his mandatory next.

He supposedly had 24 hour deadline from the WBC and he decided after looking at rankings that he'd step up to take his middleweight crown.

But we ain't to fussed about that....does this mean Rhodes is edging closer and closer to his destiny and the last chance saloon??

    Discuss :bbb

Drop that Euro title and go for the belt. He won an eliminator, he has a right to fight for the title! :deal

    WBC rankings:

    1. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (fighting Duddy at MW next)
    2. Antonio Margarito
    3. Ryan Rhodes (fighting Lukas Konecny next)
    4. Joachim Alcine (fighting Alfredo Angulo next)
    5. Kermit Cintron

Agree with Kosaros, drop the Euro belt. Margarito-Rhodes should be sanctioned for the title. Do it Don Jose, do it now!!!

They're making Sergio rush so they can hand a belt to Duddy in the division he leaves.

Although Margarito vs Rhodes would be good :good

Chavez V Duddy for WBC title now if the scene is right. What a result for the winner then they can both avoid Martinez. Would love Duddy to win it. Fight Mat Macklin in a all Irish fight. It would sell out in anywhere in Ireland.

Thank God for that, Martinez as WBC LMW 'champion' was one of the biggest alphabetty jokes in boxing.

He never even fought for the title, got it handed to him and then remained champion for over a year without defending it.

If anyone ever asks you to sum up the state of boxing today, just tell them that someone can be a 'champion' for 15 months without ever fighting for that title in their lives...

Rhodes-Margarito is an interesting fight, but what has Margo done to deserve a shot at 154?

Well said Kos. He ain't getting any younger and is possibly in his prime right now? I think he'll deal with Margarito, although I'm sure most will disagree....

Margarito didnt look to impressive by all accounts in his comeback. If Ryan could dig in some hard hard body shots he might be able to do something. Hes at his best now Messi is is probably just below european level in truth but the difference in quality was massive get ryan in there now and see what happens he has a live chance thats for sure.

the hattons [i read somewere ] have goldenboy connections, so if i was them id go for rohdes margarito, but has margarito been relicenced, that could be a spanner in the works.

Margarito is with Top Rank, not Goldenboy. And no he's not licensed currently in the US, and doubt he would allowed to fight in Britain on that basis. Rhodes could fight him in Mexico. If he can get a state to license him he'll probably rematch Cotto.
