Anyone think Bradley struggles with Abregu?

  1. Just curious how you blokes think Bradley will handle the jump up in weight with a dangerous puncher like Abregu?

He was actually a small junior welter weight. He didn't have punching power at 140, I doubt he's going to have it against even bigger guys. It's not like he was starving to make weight at 140. He should be able to outpoint Abregu, unless the unknown Abregu turns out to be an actual killer-(another south american suprise like Mayorga or Miranda).

I honestly don't know why they are jumping up in weight. Holt was a dangerous puncher at 140lbs, quite a dark-horse type of puncher, Abregu is a monstrous puncher at 147lbs. Stylistically I don't think Abregu can offset any of Bradleys technical prowess, but if he lands that big one, he could turn the tide.

Bradley is too small for 147lbs, he should focus on 140lbs entirely.

I question Bradley's chin so far, even though I like to watch him fight. Can't say about this, I've never seen Abregu fight. But him being a puncher is worrying.

  5. Abregu's been in quite a few action-packed fights. You should YouTube him.

Bradley fought as a JMW in amateur and was a WW during the early part of his career. I think we will see his punching power increase with the added weight.

IMO He stops Abregu fairly early, round 7-8.

He says he's at 155 now and has been around 160s; and he also adds that he's been sparring with middleweights.

    Is this fight not set?

It's not listed with the scheduled fights on the main page?

Meh, not impressed. Sharmba Mitchell used to spar heavyweights on a regular basis... and I don't think it helped him much while he was getting man-handled by Kostya Tszyu.

Bradley has no business fighting at 147.

Abregu is a tough guy and a fun fighter to watch so this should be a good fight. But Bradley is on a different level and should beat him. Abregu is a big puncher but he's sloppy and doesn't have a great chin. His size and Bradley's lack of big power, especially at 147, might mean this could go the distance but I think Bradley stops him in the second half of the fight.

I hope Bradley sticks to 140 and I think he will. This seems like an oppurtunity to get on HBO and Abregu was one of the best opponents they could get for that date. I would expect him to be back at 140 after this.

Agreed. Although I still think Bradley has enough to win, I can see him getting hurt by Abregu. There may be a dicey moment or 2 in the fight, but I think Bradley wins by ud.

Somewhat. Abregu is a guy who comes to get it with power chin and stamina which is always a potent combination, but ultimately his technical shortcomings with be exploited by the more experienced Bradley.
