according to frankie gavins diary in the mirror it seems september is the earliest date with gavin possibly fighting curtis woodhouse for a title
These guys arn't fighting often enough, Warren should get them on some smaller cards to keep them busy, they don't HAVE to fight en mas all on the same shows.
Somewhere in London, Rob Palmer has just spat out his corn on the cob. "I'm absolutely furious!", Palmer told his mirror. "I mean, Billy Joe Saunders is a fat ****!!! He should be a bantamweight!" Palmer continued his rant, shadow boxing in the kitchen until the thud of his educated feet caused the pots and pans to tumble down, a crash which has eerie similarities of the fate of the three Olympians. "I just can't believe Frank Warren", he mused, typing quickly on his iPhone. Despite the darkness that the room was plunged in, I could see that he had typed the word 'boxing' incorrectly, and the word 'knowledge', as 'my uneducated opinions based on a media studies degree' It was going to be a long night.
I find this hard to believe, they should certainly be fighting more often for sure but Warren ain't that bad!
To be fair i reckon they are getting moved along well, taking decent steps each time. I would prefer them to be fighting the right opponents rather than just fighting for the sake of fighting like other prospects. I know you can only do so much in the gym but what's the point in having Degale & Gavin just fighting to fill a date? They have had two fights already this year so I don't see the big problem. Chisora Vs Sexton will probably headline on Sky so there's one date and maybe mitchell vs someone? They will easily have 2 fights or more before the new year
Number of a fights in there first 18 months as a pro Nigel Benn - 18 Lennox Lewis - 15 Floyd Mayweather - 17 Shane Mosley - 15 Ray Leonard - 14 Mike Tyson - 26 De La Hoya - 14 Frankie Gavin - 7 James DeGale - 7 Jose Benevidez has had 7 fights already in 6 months.
:huh what does this prove? Benevidez will fight another 10 fights before he is asked to step it up. Gavin is about 2 fights away from a domestic title imo as is Degale. I think Warren is going with testing fights rather than go in there and get him out in 2 rounds. Cleverly had 8 fights in 2 years same with Tony Bellew why compare domestic talents who were expected to find it tough in the pro's with fighters who from day one were expected to pick up titles. Again Warren knows what he is doing he has done it all before he has tested all routes for prospects he knows which way is best :good Like Bellew and Clev, Degale and Gavin will start making their moves soon.
the worst thing is there not fighting much and when they do its not a test for them. if they were in testing fights then it wouldnt be much of a problem at least there learning that way even tho there not being that active.
