    On the scene.

He further says there is no info to give right now.

Is this good or bad news?:huh

Sounds bad. If there's some sprinkle of truth in what De la Hoya said, why refute it?

What Schaefer said seems more in-line with Floyd's recent retirement statements.

I hope it has something to do with the gag order than anything else.

When you think about it, what would be the point of negotiations being this secretive? How would having covert-op negotiations benefit the fight? I figured something was fishy from the moment I heard about these "behind closed doors" meetings....hope I'm wrong, though.

If he was misquoted as saying it was close to done, and Richie Rich says that is not true... that means it's not close at all?

lol how could he have been misquoted. That's apparently exactly what he said on live TV . I think Shaeffer is just trying to cover for Oscar.

Actually the negotiations shouldn't be made public, so I disagree with you completely.

For people who are optimistic they can think of it as a movie project. Actors and others involved are not allowed to talk about details until an official announcement is made. Conventional wisdom says a surprise is so much more gratifying when it's unexpected. Also, when there is a gag order the key players are less likely to deal with outrageous stories that stem from writers taking things out of context. Less information equates to less criticism.

Miquoted? The quotes came a video interview that was televised. Maybe Oscar misspoke, but he certainly wasn't misquoted.
