Of course, but you implied above that they will continue to pay 25 times less than Setanta were paying. Simply not true.
i said they paid 25 times less for Seria A coverage, not everything. but they have not paid more money for a single sport than Setanta.
Why pull the whole card? Surely with Ricky Burns and Paul appleby you could sell plenty of tickets, Burns after all has topped quite a few bills and sold well in Glasgow.
Okay, maybe he won't. Apparently he's just winning purse bids for fighters he doesn't promote?!?!?!?!?
Of course they haven't. That is common sense. They picked up contracts on the cheap when Setanta went bust. There would have been no competiton because the other channels had then filled their schedules, ESPN were new. The contract owners had the option to accept ESPN's offer or take nothing. They were over a barrell. When they are up for renewal there will be interest from other parties. We don't know how much they'll pay. Word is Setanta over paid so chances are ESPN won't pay as much as Setanta, but it certainly won't be on the cheap like now.
pity, i like smith, think he,s a lot of potential, plus he was taking on a really live fighter for this stage in his career, hope he wont have to wait to long, to get this fight in the ring, i beleive sept, is next warren show.
wont being the sky money. theres no injury to smith or simpson theres just not enough money fro sky to do the card.
Warren now has Chisora vs Sexton Cleverly vs Mohameddi Bellew vs Ajitse Smith vs Anderson Macklin vs Barker Rhodes vs Konceny Brook vs Jennings Simpson vs Smith add to that DeGale for domestic title? Saunders stepping it up? Hall return? Gavin for domestic title? Mitchell return? Appleby return? Broadhutst return? that would make 5 decent shows.
remember when warren said he was going to match khan/cook/arhur/mitchell in a tournement over the summer.......i.e he chats allot of ****. i will beleive when i see it.
