Mauriello was kayoed by Louis in the first round in 1946. That before managing to buzz the Bomber pretty good. He had 60 knockouts in 82 wins. Lost a split decision to Jimmy Bivins and beat Lou Nova twice. Including kayoing Sweet Lou in the first round in Nova's final bout.

Galento, in his brutalizing of Nova, was said to be akin to practicing surgery without a license. Nova had had the durable Welsh heavyweight contender Tommy Farr just about out on his feet in the 14th round of their bout. Unfortunately, he was rumored to have nearly lost an eye against the dirty-fighting and thumb happy Galento.

Who comes out on top? Two considerable bangers here.

Yes, usually the banger with the better whiskers comes out on top. I tend to concur with your pick Bill.

Galento by early knockout in an enertaining albeit one-sided fight.

I could see Marellio surviving Gallentos bombs to outpoint him or TKO him late.

It's not just the hook Tami would have to contend with, but also Tony's filthy tactics. If Mauriello gets to the final bell, he likely wins, but I don't envision him surviving. I also suspect Galento's weight pull has some bearing on the outcome.

Galento seems like a real piece of ****ing work. I'm glad Louis just about decapitated him, I can see why he was the only man that Louis was ever angry at leading up to a fight.

He managed to **** off Max Baer as well. He openly admitted to using elbow pads in sparring to practice landing elbows in competition.
