    Another nice video.
I'm a big fan of both, though I really don't like Frazier's chances peak for peak, but there will always be Liston haters to say something dumb like:
"OMG Liston is just a bully, Frazier standing up to him will make him quit like he did against Ali!11!!1! Everybody Sonny beat was scared of him!!111!!!1!"

Yep. That's what a lot of people on this forum think. When ever he is faced with adversitiy, he quits. Which is wrong.
Thanks. I think this is my best one yet.

Well, Liston is a bit of ***** compared to the Fraziers, Holyfields etc. Or he has a *****'s track record at elast.

I favour him in this one though.

Beautiful video. Reminds me of just how extremely good Frazier's left hook was. What a punch. I can see why Gil Clancy has him as the greatest puncher ever.

no one makes Liston look like a ***** man.
true, he lacks heart of a Holyfield or a Frazier, but he's still not a *****.

Ya he's such a ***** he fought 6 rounds with a broken jaw.

He also came back to win a fight in which he got his nose badly broken in, but that's not impressive rite?

Liston would beat Holyfield to death. It is amazing to me the lack of respect Liston gets from these people. The young love their Holy and Tyson and Lewis. Liston never showed lack of heart. Only in the Ali fight's were there any questions. But Wepner said that in his prime, noone beats Liston, and that included Ali. And in the 1983 gathering of great fighters covered by THE RING, they asked fighters who was the best of their time besides them. Monzon picked Leonard, Torres, Duran, most Ali, but Ali picked Liston, he said that he was the only one who could beat him.

Yeah. Also you know: Jones also has no lack of chin. He actually has a granite chin. Only in the Tarver, Johnson and Green fights did he have any real chin issues.

Ah, well that's it settled then.

People need to stop justifying bull**** with "X once said that...", "Y once said that...". It's just madness. Some fighter makes an off-hand comment about something which he may or may not have meant, may or may not have said, may or may not have had good reasons for saying, and it gets used on here like conclusive evidence to prop up any sorry old claim. If you can't provide reasons for your post, just don't ****ing bother.

No kidding... I always thought that Ali would've beaten Liston. I imagine the 59' Version of Liston would've given him a much better fight, but with Ali still winning. It would've been an interesting fight.
but Yeah, I always thought that Liston would've had Evander's number, Evander is just too easy to hit and Liston would zero in on his jab and eventually break him down ala bowe.

This post pretty much epitomizes the deliberate efforts to overrate Liston from certain members of this forum.

First, a completely unsubstantiated claim about what he "would" do to a genuine great HW:

Then an attempt to downplay or dismiss the lack of heart he showed against Ali and the immense significance it had:

Then an attempt to rate him using an argument that's otherwise never been a basis for rating a fighter:

The irony is, if Liston was really the fighter these posters were making him out to be, these sort of efforts would be completely unnecessary.

    :lol::good

    This. :deal

After all, why not bring up the fact that Frazier once said that Liston wasn't in his class and use that to settle this thread in the first place?

What do you think of Fr5azier if you pick a "*****" to defeat him? This is after saying he's a ***** compared to Frazier :huh

Calling a proffessional fighter a "*****" is always going to be a little spastic, especially a top champion. This is a much, much better way to say the same thing:

That's not realy true though, is it? Robinson, Louis, Ali, Langford, Armstrong, they all need and get a bit of positive chat on the forum on occasion, and I don't think anyone is placing Liston in this sort of class.

Granted, discussion on Liston has went BAT**** over the past three weeks, but that's a evenly balanced equation.

Finally, you know as well as I do that whatever the reason for these little tidbits being offered up, many of us are interested in them. Whatever they mean, or don't mean in terms of ATG status.
