    thats the point, how can u say that when the cut was caused by a punch? isnt that in fact lewis winning the fight? by punching his opponent and making him bleed to the point where its not safe to continue? i just dont get how people can say 'if it wasnt for the cut' if it wasnt caused by a butt

    de la hoya got a gift decision because he had a big fight lined up, lewis legitimately beat vitali, just because he was behind on the cards halfway thru the fight means NOTHING because he made sure the cards werent going to matter that night

    The truth is;
    Most Klit fans are really less boxing fans and mostly UFC Russian prison fighter fans.
    They know very little about the sweet science which prompts them to make idiotic comments like;
    "Vitali would have won IF Lewis didn't hit him in the face with his fists and bust up his eye, lips, and nose. He was ahead on the score cards."

    Classic case of denial of reality and lack of knowledge of boxing.

    a harsh way of saying it but yeah. it's like claiming billy conn really beat louis, except for the knockout part. or lyle beat ali cause he was up on the cards at the time of the stoppage. kind of the point of stoppages

    and lewis didn't HAVE to give vitali a rematch. he didn't owe him ****. he probably would have lost a rematch as vitali was coming into his rare prime and lewis was past his. but you know what, foster didn't owe ahumada a rematch, nor did monzon owe valdez another fight.

    Shut up you ****ing moron.

    Was it just one lucky punch? After all, Vitali was cut over the eye, across the cheek and down the top lip. Thats three lucky punches then?

    Lewis was out of shape and done with boxing. It was the right time to retire. Klitschko was too young and fresh and for Lennox it wasnt worth the risk.

    Actually, watching that highlight reel, Vitali is visibly slowing down and holding on by the last two rounds. Had it not been for the cuts I reckon Lennox would have stopped him.

    Also at 2.13 mins of that clip check out Klitschko trying to kick Lewis as he went over to help him up!

    :lol:

    And what about the other cuts? I guess they were "lucky" punches by Lewis as well?? The punch that caused the cut landed with some force. Lucky punch - you couldn't ****ing make it up. You can argue all you like about what would happen if the cut didn't occur but it did. And if you think VITLAY scared Lewis into retirement, then you are sadly deluded.

    Lewis landed some jabs in the first two rounds and than cuts Vitali with punches in round 3.

    Lewis won fair by TKO round 6. Fighter looses fights on cuts. This is boxing and boxing has rules. The fight was stopped on cuts, the cuts where the results of Lewis punches!!

    I think Lewis might have taken him out in the 7th or 8th. Watch the end of the 6th round, watch the last 10 seconds, Vitali is clinging on for dear life. He looks out on his feet. Let's not forget that his corner was pulling him out anyway, regardless of the (fair) doctor's stoppage. If that fight had have gone on there may have been irreparable damage to Vitali's eye.

    He was definitely teteriating.

    Getting a cut like that was a fluke, is it a part of boxing yes was it a legitimate stoppage yes, Asking if it wasnt for the cut would the fight of been different is a very valid question, you have to be really insecure about lewis to say well the cut happened how dare you assume it would of been different if it didnt...

    Exactly, jisi, it's just that simple. :good

    I would love to have seen a rematch but Lewis chose to retire and Vitali has since gone on to reign quite well. Had Lewis KO'd him or carried onto the point where VITLAY had to quit boxing due to eye damage, then people whould be singing a different tune.

    The fight needed to be stopped,, Should of been stopped earlier.. Lewis might of taken him out or he might of lost by ko as well.. remember lewis was also dead tired in the last round and slumped into his corner...

    Lewis was coming strong when the fight was stopped. Vitali was not that far ahead. Lewis retired cause he was 38 and did not want to fight anymore - he was not even in shape for the Vitali fight.
