here are biliion threads about it, but i will say it again.I am against ref/doctor endings. Only fighter or his corner or of course KO should end a boxing fight

Man, I feared for Vitali's life. It was so brutal that the medical doctor had to rush in to save him.

That doctor saved a life that night. Props.

It was the worst version on Lewis I'd ever seen.

Lewis was just as complacent as he was against Rahman in Africa.

His game plan to slug and assume Vitali would fall down was unprofessional to say the least. The fact that he got through it and won in such brutal fashion despite this is the hallmark of a Great champion.

Vitali's face was very nearly paralyzed. His career was a round away from ending that night.

Every post I've read of yours in this thread has been off the mark in some way or other.

I suggest you study up on events leading up to the bout and have a good think about what constitutes a 'lucky punch' in a Boxing Match.

It's not good to keep a thread like this going if all you're going to peddle is utter nonsense like you just have.

Lets just put it in a way both sides can agree on:

    1. Lewis stopped Klitschko on cuts
    2. Lewis choose to retire rather than give Vitali a rematch

Lazy, disinterested and past his prime Lewis. Young and more importantly hungry Vitali.

    Lewis round 6 TKO.

That's all there is to it.

Lennox was down on the cards at the time of the stoppage, but Lennox was coming on strong. And that was a semi-retired Lewis at the end of his career. A prime, motivated Lewis would easily destroy both the Kiltschko's

Bad logic. DLH lost that fight, I don't care what cards say. Sturm was robbed.

This is different. Vitali had a horrendous cut. Also Lewis was nearing the end. If anything he was smart to retire after beating Vitali fair and square. People act as if he was down 6-0. It was a close fight. 3-3 or 4-2 Vitali is a close fight.

Go and watch it again. The blood was pouring out of that cut on the cheek. Even when the corner wiped it.

I agree that a rematch would have been very tough for Lewis but at 38 and past his prime, retirement was the sensible option.

The truth is, if Vitali couldnt beat that version of Lewis, he's unlikely to make any ATG list.

i'm a big lewis fan and have just watched this fight again and it was a brilliant fight.

lennox was tired as **** at the end of round 6 and almost fell on his stool where as vitali was startin to feel the pace as well.

i think both fighters came out of this well. vitali showing he can mix it with an atg heavyweight and lewis showing he can come through adversity with a great young heavyweight.

i personally think vitali is a top 10 atg heavyweight, he's just been really unlucky with the era he has had to fight in. i think he gives trouble to peak tyson, peak holyfield, peak riddick bowe but he just hasn't had the opportunity to show it and has an awkward style that isn't particularly pleasing to the eye.

its sad the fight got stopped when it did because round 7 and 8 would of been brilliant, i don't think it would of gone further than that and i think its 50-50 on which way it would have gone.
