Your post is to personal, and u have feelings towards Floyd, but let's not forget before Tigers scandle he used to attend all Floyds events. I was at Allstar weekend in Dallas and Floyd has a lot of fans, and boxing is supposed to be a dieing sport

There could be a case to suggest that Mayweather draws good PPV figures because paying viewers feel it's worth parting with their hard-earned cash for the chance to see him getting his ass kicked. Following this hypothesis through - Pacquiao, being the most credible challenge that Mayweather has ever faced, will probably draw a shedload of casual fans (as well as his existing fan-base), believing that he is the man to end Mayweather's unbeaten run.

On this basis, Pacquiao adds to the overall draw, significantly.

When Pac and Mayweather fight, i will be hoping beyond hope that Pac solidifies his position as the premier great of this era and brutalises mayweather, pac is the man and i am a fan.

That being said, there's simply no 'logical' justification as to why pac needs to get 50/50

Mayweather has repeatedly been paid more
Mayweather has repeatedly done better ppv

Who is better (them being fairly equal as of today) has almost never been what determines who gets the bigger shair, i cant even believe someone would bring up, well pac is considered better so he should get the same amount. Sorry, but that's not the reality we live in, do you think Oscar and Hopkins split 50/50 because Hopkins was considered better then Oscar? that's asinine

Yes, people are going to argue about pacs global draw and blah blah, and i think Mayweather should give Pac 50/50 out of the fact that they are so close to being equal, but Pac should just suck it up, realise hes come in a bit behind in the box office in comparison, take 60/40 and get the fight on, its not like theres not going to be a rematch if (hopefully, when) he wins anyways, in which he can then get 50/50 or 60/40 in his favor. But this **** is ridiculous.

    imo

What basis is there for Pac being a bigger global star, more people in the UK seem to know Mayweather than Pacquaio, Mayweather-Hatton did much more PPV buys in the UK than Pacquaio-Hatton did.

Pacquaio is obviously the bigger draw in the Philipines, but thats about it, maybe Mexico. But neither of those markets bring in much revenue

  8. Why do you idiots think Floyd got $40 mil for the Mosley fight? 65% on a 1.4mil PPV fight in which the promoters SPENT more money than has ever been spent in the history of the sport.

Just for perspective, Oscar made $52 million when he fought Mayweather, with a higher split (68%) in a fight that did 2.4mil buys and had lower overhead.

    Do some ****ing math.

What about Asia? I know for a fact that Pacquiao is a star in Asian countries. He's the face for Nike in that region, so his appeal is much wider than just the Philipines. I know he's a global face for them, but he's heavily marketed in Asia, so he has that market.

The thing is though, in regards to his global appeal, you can't apply numbers to it. You can look at Britain and America and say "Mayweather draws more" and whilst that may be the case, there are no numbers for where Pacquiao is a bigger draw. Looking at numbers will always produce just a percentage of the income the fight brings, but it's only a percentage as the fight will draw in regions which don't have those easy-to-get numbers.

It's just so much simpler if you don't pick it apart and say it should be 50/50. At the end of the day, this is Pacquiao and Mayweather and the fact they are fighting will draw and the the fact they are fighting each other will draw. They both bring a lot.

    ...because Mayweather said so.

Same reason people still think he made $20m for his WWE appearance. They told the wrestling newsheets that, to hype his appearance even more, but he made a lot less.

  14. $20 million: The alleged amount of money Mayweather is supposed to be getting for his appearance. Not real. The most money anyone has ever earned for a one-time pro wrestling appearance was Mike Tyson at WrestleMania in 1998, which was good for about $3.5 million. Even though pro wrestling was more popular in America then, WrestleMania itself is a bigger money show now, partially because WWE’s popularity has expanded outside North America. But the Tyson of 1998 had more drawing power than the Mayweather of 2008. Wrestling sources indicate Mayweather is getting a $2 million flat fee, plus a percentage that should put him in Tyson’s range.
