Wow. Ding Ding Ding! What do we have for him Johnny? We finally found a fighter Seamus is positive about. Holmes would be in a whole world of trouble against Wlad. Wasn't holmes taken to close split decision wins by the best boxers he faced? Wasn't he hit by straight right hands is whole career? Didn't he have trouble with fighters who could jab with him? This is actually a very bad stylistic match for Holmes. I still favor holmes to persevere and win.
Well, he can probably survive the 4 right hands Wlad plans on throwing over 12 rounds. Seriously, Wlad poses problems for any heavyweight ever, that goes without saying. I'm just saying on top of that Holmes had a championship heart, something I am not sure Wlad possesses, certainly not to the degree Holmes did.
Wlads not too keen on the right hands either. I think Holmes had a great right hand and thats the punch that will halt Wlad in the championship rounds
holmes is skill wise and chin wise better. wlad has a better defense, and i even think that wlads jab right now is better then holmes one. and the punching power thing. i really believe that wlad is p4p the biggest puncher since shavers, but his accurucy is better. i would say wlad late tko win against holmes
Holmes would chop Wlad to pieces and TKO him inside of ten ... Holmes was much faster. He had a much better jab. He had far superior footspeed and matched Wlad's 80" reach .. Wlad would be a bloody mess and kissing the canvas ... I respect the way Wlad has managed to pull his career together but he has become ridiculously over rated by many ..
he is not overrated, he is right now for the first time right rated. this everyone would ko wlad is bull****. the wlad of right now would beat 90% of the last champions. there is only holmes, ali, foreman, lewis, tyson and vitali imo who can give wlad a tough fight and possibly beat him. and this would be 50%50 fights.
Go to the 4:10 mark and you'll see what Joe Louis would have done to Wlad ... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ovh8VkTxYI[/ame]
primo carnera = wladimir klitschko roll: you hate wladimir klitschko right? every fighter who fought before liston would get knocked the **** out by both klitschkos, lewis, tyson, holyfield, holmes, foreman, ali, liston... you are very nostalgic, perhaps it's time to live in the time right now and be a little bit realistic???!!!
So you think Liston would get KO'd by Wlad? I highly doubt it. Wladimir klitschko is not that great... It's you that need to be a little more realistic.
i said that from liston till now, they are all more equal in h2h match ups, i never said that wlad would knock liston out, i said that liston, ali, foreman, holmes tyson, holyfield, lewis and the k bros would beat the **** out of everyone who fought before liston. and from liston till today, if they would fight it would be all 50%50 fights, it would depend who is better prepared and who is mentally stronger and has a good day
Exactly, I wouldn't base my predictions on the Wlad who fought from 1998-1994, but rather the one who has since improved his skills, while still maintaining his great conditioning. The other point of interest, is that the only men who ever stopped Wlad, were big punchers who threw a good left hook, something that Holmes does not resemble. In either case, I still pick Larry to take a close decision, because I do feel that he had the better skills, a tad more speed, and more durability, plus the experience of going 15 rounds.. But he isn't winning this one by a land slide. Wlad would force him to fight the best match of his career, and I would only pick the very BEST version of Larry to beat him... The 1983-1985 version doesn't cut it.. I'm thinking the 1979-1982 Holmes barely edges him...
If Wlad gets by Povetkin, Haye and maybe one other credible challenger, his place in the history of the division is going to become very interesting. It speaks for itself that most people wouldn't have dreamt matching him head to head against a great such as Holmes a couple or three years back, whereas now it seems to be that he deserves consideration in such matchups even if you think Holmes would win. And I actually think that the present version of Klitschko would be representive of quite a formidable challenge to Holmes, particularly if the former was able to keep the fight at his pace and distance.
The one thing that Wlad rarely ( if ever, ) gets credit for, is coming back after three devastating losses, to lesser fighters to become a mostly unified champion, and candidate for a great place in history... Okay, losing to Purity, Sanders and Brewster sucks... But, how many guys would regroup after defeats like that? I think the man's heart is better than people give it credit for, and I'm not about to chalk it up to weak opposition either...
