Andre Ward reminds me a bit of Henry Armstrong...

    Just saying. Not in every way or anything, but just the way he physically dominates the fight. Throws a lot of punches, always keeps busy, doesn't tire. Breaks you down with short, sharp punches. Closes the distance with a little hop-step and a jab. Hits whatever part of you is there to be hit. Stuff like that.

    Also, I was really impressed tonight. Ward basically took his game against Kessler a step further by actually FIGHTING on the inside. Personally, I think it's old-school and I really like it. All Green wanted to do was tie him up and he STILL couldn't do it. Let alone land anything significant.

    Also, Ward's conditioning appears to be top-notch. Didn't throw a million punches, but shoving a guy around and leaning into him like that for an entire fight has to be extremely physically taxing and requires a lot of strength and athleticism.

    I'm not ready to call Ward the future P4P king or anything yet, but he's definitely got the tools. I also don't want to call him Sugar Ray Leonard or Roy Jones. The Henry Armstrong comparison was a stylistic thing. Kevin Iole is just ****ing ******ed for the article he wrote which basically compares Ward to Leonard because he's 'a fighter.' Wow Kevin. That's ****ing insightful. But I digress--that was an ass-whoopin' right there, and a damn impressive performance by Ward.

    Tonight, a little bit; yeah. Just in a really smothering inside fighting sense. Obviously they're different, and obviously Ward's not as good.

    Yeah. Strictly the inside game I saw tonight just had me drawing a few parallels in style/gameplan. Ward doesn't have the coolass herky-jerky rhythm of Armstrong, but if he did I would be an instant fan because i love that **** lol.

    armstrong was a very effective fighter but his style was boring to watch

    used to put his head on his opponents chest / drive his feet forward pushing his opponent around the ring not able to get there balance or legs under them while whaling away all the time with punches.
