Hey, The Magic Man himself is bold enough for the comparison (which I disagree with emphatically, even if Ward turns out to be the the goods of the next generation he doesn't have that lighting strike of a hook or jackhammer of a straight).

How badly do you think a prime Jones beats Ward...or do you think otherwise:think

And how does Ward stack up with the Jones Jr. that Tarver faced?

They're very different animals to me stylistically but regardless, RJJ would probably beat the bejesus out of Ward...but that's not really an insult. He beats the bejesus out of almost anybody in his prime. The RJJ that Tarver faced? Ward may've beaten him, but I have to see more. I think after Dirrell we will be in a much better place to judge Ward.

Agree on both points. When Tarver said that I got a laugh. To me, Ward seems a really good technician. He combined some good body movement with some nice feints to work Green from the outside, and then dominated him on the inside.

I think prime Jones beats him to the punch every time. Ward would perhaps try to go deep into the bag of tricks but still loses...I don't know much about Ward's chin so maybe Jones by KO...but Jones at times didn't want to close the show in spite of almost always getting KDs in his fight.

The Jones that Tarver faced? Who knows. Tarver hits harder and has a different style than Ward, but maybe Ward makes Jones uncomfortable all night and squeaks a decision, but I have to see him against better competition (though Kessler is a much better competition to look at than Green).

RJJ would destroy him. At least prime RJJ.

prime RJJ destroys any 168lber in history. A shot version of RJJ was still able to drop Calzaghe, a prime RJJ schools Ward.

Jones had more pop .not sure if Ward could avoid getting tagged by a young Jones . Its still to early to tell but let see how Ward develops . He will win the super 6 so its a good start there .

Similar outcome to RJJ/Hopkins, most likely.

    Ward's like a poor-man's B-Hop than Roy Jones.

Ward would be getting worked over, he wouldn't be able to establish his jab, he'd just get dominated wherever the fight went, plus Roy had a punch on him, Andre doesn't, at least not to Roy's extent or to the extent that would make Roy respect him.

RJJ would beat him. How bad? I'm going to wait for the Dirrell fight to make that judgment.

I think his point was that Ward's mastery and ability to confound his opponents was similar to Roy. Not that he was the same as Roy.
