you did pick him. I don't know quite what the story is in terms of your grasp of the English language, but if you have a sneaking suspicion something is going to happen at the expense of something else, then that's a pick. You picked him, on the general forum. % game . Unlucky. But you ACTUALLY put money/vcash on Green, or claimed to on the forum I also said that if Green showed absolutley no ambition (he showed none, not even enough to win one round, whatever you might think) he would be "widely outboxed to a UD". Which is bang on! My mistakes were a) thinking Green would be much stronger. This was a mistake based upon his show of strength versus Miranda. Definitely incorrect. b) that Green would show enough ambition to get knocked out. And to my second mistake, I was absolutely correct in my breakdown of what would occur showed Green show no ambition. Not perfect, not bad, and lots of people enjoyed the read, which is always the main thing for me. I have "the right" (wtf?) to call anyone I catch in a lie a liar. Liar. But RIGHT AFTER THE FIGHT you wrote, "I gave round one to Green" Now, if "I have a sneaking suspiction" that Green will win, doesn't mean Green will win lol, what does "I gave round one to Green" secretly mean? you can't spell "lying" properly you're **** Petie. When the next "best posters" poll runs around, I will get one or two votes. You will get none. For some reason, the people that vote for me will be "distorters of reality" or "lieing liars", but that's the way it is. Never mind. If Green had TRIED, AT ALL, to win this fight, he would have been knocked out. Boxing purely to survive he didn't win one round. Not perfect, certainly, these things rarely are, but i'm happy with it, and i like it a lot better than "I have a sneaking suspicion that Green will upset Ward" A quick recap: Petie: I didn't pick Green! I produce a Petie post where he picks Green Petie:You never post any details in your predictions! I produce a very detailed prediction Petie: I didn't score a round for Green, I scored one even! I produce a Petie post where he scores a round for Green Petie: You made mistakes in that article! It's impossible to get ALL the details right, that almost never happens when you go over 1,000 words, but I got the right winner and flavour. Petie picked Green on the forum (but Ward in secret).
I've had a sneaking suspicion near the Martinez fight that Martinez was going to beat Pavlik. But before that, I picked Pavlik. Does that nullify or change my pick? Are things really that simple to you, or do you think that aren't conflicting factors to an opinion sometimes? By the way, Martinez vs Pavlik and Abraham vs Dirrell are fights I've legitimately been wrong against as I've picked against them. Near the Martinez fight I said I have a feeling Martinez would win. I didn't change my pick, but I had a suspicion. I didn't bet on this fight in real life. I did put Vcash on Green, but I was going to ledger a Ward decision. Either way, I would've won. Hence a ledger. Gambling 101. Another example of you trying to claim that I bet real money with Green, unless you think money and vcash are the same. Seems you have trouble grasping the English language. And this no ambition scenario, Green wouldn't be getting pummeled on the ropes. You called the fight wrong, big deal. You thought that because you thought Green was stronger. He wasn't getting knocked out either way. He got smothered and out-worked. You thought Ward would pick him off on the outside and jump in and out. If Green showed more ambition he would've probably done better because he would be on the outside. He wouldn't have gotten knocked out. Of course I know you care about your status around here. The 40K posts would verify this. Obviously in literal terms. But you're the king of distorting truth. The first round was a tossup. Who do you think won the first round? Ward? Had Ward been away I'm not sure he would've gotten the shut-out. And I am notorious for giving rounds to the person I'm not rooting for. If you know my history you would know this. You care about your status. And of course, have more experience on ESB. Also, you actually care about this validation. You deal with a lot of people differently. You're a knowledgeable poster, but have an inflated sense of your self worth. You're knowledgeable but basic. Your analysis isn't groundbreaking, you're not bold or very insightful. You're not incredibly knowledgeable, either. You're average on your sections. You don't have the wisdom of Burt, the knowledge of Janitor, Suzie Q, Old Fogey, the analysis of itrymariti, Stone-hands, the objectivity of Boilermaker, Duodenom, or Mr. magoo. Nor do you even bring the counter intuitive reasoning of Powerpuncher or Seamus. You're a follower for the most part. You learn from the others, and try salvaging off of them. You're friendly to most, and an alright poster, but nothing more. I'm an okay poster. But don't parade around the group like you in an effort to be validated or considered apart of some elite consensus. If Green tried more than he had he would've spun of the ropes and had Ward on the inside. On the inside he was getting banged up. He didn't box to survive, he was suffocated. Apparently he was feeling well, that's his excuse. Rarer for you than me I guess. A better more accurate recap. McGrain: You're talking about me. So Petei I loved your picking of Green over Ward. Pete: Show me a quote or stfu McGrain: Well you said you have a sneaking suspicion. Surely a sneaking suspicion is a pick. What else is it. You made a ****ing pick. Pete: Uh, no, not exactly. I just fancied Greens chances more than most. I didn't pick him... if I had I would've. Actually thought Ward would win a decision. I don't see your analysis anywhere. McGrain: Look at this analysis, better than Green over Ward. Pete: You thought Green was too strong and would cause trouble to Ward in clinches? You got the analysis pretty off, and you ended up going your final prediction more wrong than mine. McGrain: Better than picking Green over Ward Pete: I didn't pick Green over Ward... atsch
If you had picked both Ward and Green on the forum before the fight, you would have been guilty of picking both fighters. As it is you ONLY picked Green on the forum. So you picked Green. Yeah, ti's that simple. You picked who you picked. sure. Just like you picked him in secret. I had no idea whether you were takling about real cash or vcash, hence my either/or post. I found this post when I was uncovering your lie about not picking Green to win round 1. Which you did. I called two aspects of the fight wrong. Every single predictive article i've ever read contains mistakes. There are no exceptions. I don't feel any shame at all about this. I called the fight right. You called it wrong. You don't need posts numbers or any other reasons to verify if I care about my status or not. I do. I think most regular posters do. Some more than others. I think it is impossible to tell who cares more than who, though you will likely disagree. I really, really hope you are one of the guys who doesn't care very much. But you scored it for Green. I knew you would score an early round for Green, trying to cling onto your pick. I scored it for Ward. So did all three judges. Nice scoring. You also lied about scoring it for Green and tried to pretend you scored it even, OR you scored it even last night and for an even more unfathomable reason, you lied about that scoring last night. Is this going to turn into something else you post every three lines? I don't care much for your opinion. Here's another nice one: "McGrain is an archeolagist. He digs up gold. And that's not all. He's an analyst. Serious boxing fans are treated to a living, breathing history with an expert's discussion of tactics and style." Springs Toledo AKA Stonehands. This was in public. He also called me "maybe the best analyst he's ever read". This was in private. I still have that e-mail. That meant a lot to me. Your opinion? Not so interested Petie. Not so interested. There are many more testimonies to my ability as a boxing analyst. In spite of what you might think of me, I don't have them to hand, and if I did I wouldn't post them. **** it, why not? Maybe you didn't. But you had "a sneaking suspcion" that he was going to win. Unlucky.
Things I just learned from itrymariti 1. Fighting on with a bad cut is more heroic than fighting on with a broken jaw 2. The pain you suffer from a jaw break is no different than a bad cut. 2. Vitali overcame extreme adversity in the Lewis fight, despite losing the fight by TKO Ridiculous stuff, eh McGrain?
Really? Not so sure about. And who are you trying to convince, me or yourself? Sounds like you're trying to convince yourself. You even go at lengthy points to search my history, and go on about how others respect you just to reiterate your status to me. Why are you doing this, to comfort yourself? If you're comfortable with yourself... why do you have to? If you don't care, what waste such great lengths to prove me wrong? You carry on to prove your worth. I guess you want to be the one to just inform me. Or rather just to set the record straight for classic to see. Like I said you care about your status here and how you're perceived. These long-drawn posts just to prove a point, and remember you dragged this whole trench-war off topic to something personal. When I end this discussion, you call it random "quitting" on threads. Like I have time for continuous series of your bull****. You have the pride of getting some moral victory on my quitting our discussions. Sorry I'm not here every 10 minutes to respond to your distorted crap. But obviously that's the action of someone who doesn't care, though. Again, if there's one thing you proven in this thread it's that you do care about my opinion. Maybe you don't care about my opinion... maybe you're really not interested. If that's the case then you really don't care about your time. That's a shame. I do, so I'm done with your bull****.
I must say, high on my agenda in life before I shuffle off these mortal coils, is to convice as many people as possible that Sonny Liston was a great fighter, when in fact he was a lucky bum w/ an 84 inch reach. I'm sure Cleveland Williams thought that as he was beaten down by Liston. Throughout the history of the division, Liston's skills are thought highly of the experts who covered the sport from the 20s-90s and above, but NOW we know they were wrong.Thank you, now my quest to overrate Liston will end and I shall move to the overrating job of Art Frias.
